What? No bids?! But it's gorgeous..... I appreciate the amount of work that's gone into it though! Just a shame the builder had a "style bypass"

It is a solid steel hand crafted work of art. No, it is a truly vile aberration and whoever designed it needs a slap.

Ah yes, I think that top one used to belong to Kelly... Kelly... well I can't remember her surname, but it was built by Tracy Chantry (of '37 roadster fame). It's been round the rod and custom circuit a fair bit. Basically Kelly had no money but was into Kustoms so took her mini to various shows, I don't know whether the car evolved or just got built but I remember it spawned letter after letter in CC and various editorials etc. going on about non-classic, fwd and even non-pre '49 cars being allowed into shows which makes her a bit of a hero to some people... however ugly her car is.
... oh and also do you realise how difficult it is to do all that without fibreglass?

I admire the skills of the person who built it, what with that being all steel and all, but it really is bloody ugly! And here I was thinking only Trabants get bodywork mods that really really really don't suit them! ;D ;D

... oh and also do you realise how difficult it is to do all that without fibreglass? Yep, phenomenal work. Just frickin' ugly! But hey, that's the whole idea of custom cars - you build something that you like, not necessarily what others like. I like that bug btw.

I like `em both, but then, I appreciate true custom cars as opposed to bolt on plastic, on shopping trollies with roof racks ;D

You're all looking at this from the wrong perspective. This car was built by a man who's rated among the best 'tinsmiths' in this country. Why did he build it like that? 1/ It's different, it shocks people (point proved by this big long thread). 2/ It had to be a wild kustom and it had to be that mini - can anyone come up with a better wild kustom mini (bodymods-wise) design? 3/ But the main reason, the reason that you're all missing (and without wishing to be sexist in the slightest) HE BUILT IT FOR A GIRL and he built it to her spec. Most girls have very strange taste in cars in my experience... and the result was the above mini. *ducks from barrage of flying objects thrown by females around the world* The beetles a bit of an aquired taste too - I've always hated cycle-fenders so not my cup of tea

I'm not knocking the workmanship, looks top class. My point is that someone has invested no doubt thousands of pounds to pay for hundreds of hours of labour, using skills perfected over years and years, to build something that looks like a cross between a fugging metallic blue training shoe, and a bathroom sink.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be controversial here, but I like the Mini. Purely on the grounds that I've taken my Mini to 1001 mini shows and all the cars there look like...well, mini's. No great surprise there, but its good to see someone deviate from the usual course off mini-modding which is to stick a couple of spot lights on the grille, stripes up the bonnet and bits of chrome here and there (like I've done!). In my opinion its very cool because its unique (and looks a bit like a 60's Skyline in your rear-view mirror!) edit: Ok, it might look a bit like a Skyline if you squint, in the dark.....and its a bit foggy... or a Singer Vogue perhaps? No? It must be me and the Carlsberg.
