I imagine it'd be the same principals as 4 stroke. Open up the inlet and exhaust ports to improve the flow

I've heard a supercharger really brings a two stroke to life ;D

Can you get a high lift cam for it?

yes and no the expansion chamber is a start its all about pressure waves for the scavanging effect porting will just move the power higher up the rev range have you got any pics of the barrels and pistons bodie did a bit when i was younger on x7s and lcs ;D

yeah, but force feeding only really works on case reed engines. the wart is piston ported and when the inlet port is open- so is the exhaust! might scavenge ok though of course if I case reed it then one can turbo it, but thats a bit of graft.

thats what the exhaust does the pressure wave stop the fuel mix going straight out of the exhaust port pics please

no pics I'm afraid, but its pretty plain jane spec inside. 7.5:1 compression, three port reverse scavenge ( think its one inlet, one transfer, one exhaust), 30mm single choke down draft, no expansion chamber fitted as stock- think of all the wated fuel and potential energy!

making a pipe would be a ballache i don't know how you work out the cone size but its the most important part if you porting will help we used to raise the port but it wasnt a problem on the bike didnt used to come on song untill 7000 rpm the all hell broke loose good old days

and tonka- the making of a 'spanny doesn't worry me no-where near as much as much as over porting the motor.

On a more serious and maybe helpful note might it be worth looking in the direction of Saab people/websites?

I know that Stan Stephens is a bike tuner but two strokes are still two strokes and he may be worth a call for some fundamental info?

we used to take 5mm off the skirt on the inlet side for more fuel in a set of carbs something like mikuni flatslides with pump jets the head could be reworked to improve the sqush band and up the compession its probably going to be alot of trail and error and the pipe would be the hardest bit its all pressure waves making one wouldnt be that bad but making one that works is another

On the cone pattern expansion chamber question, do a google on terms like "cone development" "sheetmetal pattern" or "cone net".
A cone that is cut off rather than going all the way up to a point, is called a "truncated" cone, so search for it too. That's probably the one you're after because you need a hole for the gasses to go out. There are sites that show how to construct this kind of thing. All you need is a ruler compasses and cardboard. The modern way is with CAD software like Soilidworks. You draw the 3D shape you want and then the software unfolds it into a flat template. Can do more complicated shapes too. I can't do it myself, but maybe it'll give you another avenue to try. Good luck.

its the size of the cones that determine where your power is coming in and out so differant sizes move the power band higher and lower in the rev range

If I remember correctly - and I probably don't. - It's 1/3µr²*h for volume - but it's 25+yrs since I did it - so probably not much help. You need the circumference of the port it'll be hooked to - then choose a height for it and take it from a mid point on a straight line. Simple mathematic compass will give you the correct arc for hooking up a cone if you use it to scribe........ at least that works in my head. It's all tosh if I've just remembered the incorrect formula tho' John
