I've fitted a set of 2" lowering springs to my p6, and while doing so have noticed how much room I still have in the arches. This then leads to the natural thought, I can make it lower, but the problem is, if it goes permanently lower, that will cause obvious clearance issues, as the sills are currently only 6" off the ground. I want to keep the suspension travel I have, so thought why can't I make all four corners adjustable?
What I'm thinking of is cutting a 2-3 inch section out of a spare set of front struts, welding in sleeves to reinforce them, and then welding a tube to the lower half, so the the upper half can slide up and down, and be retained by some bolts in one of two positions, high and low.
Then for the rear, I thought I could move the existing lower hub mount inwards a little and extend it down to just above the bottom of the wheel rim so that I have two positions to mount the hub in.
Has anyone done anything like this before? Should I just forget about it, or am I on to something here?
