Hi All, Setting off for Dover in the morning, sailing on Thursday morning and driving onto the Nurburgring - can't wait! I've remembered to change my brake fluid this time ready, got some ATE superblue in there now (Dot 5.1) so hopefully that will withstand the heat a little better than last year - had fade after about three corners!  Anyone got any specific retro picture requests? Will try and get as many pics as I can but one of my memory cards has knackered itself and won't work in the camera, will have to try and pick one up in Germany. See you next week!  Stu |

i always see writing on the track, but never get chance to read what iuit sez, so a little snippet of some would be great!

The locals - yeah, they can drive! You can't keep up with any of them whether they are driving a minibus, a landrover, anything! There was a guy last year that I videod doing a wet lap in an old Carlton (Opel I assume) and he was getting the back end out on every corner with perfectly controlled ease! Top stuff. The writing on the track is mostly stuff to do with manufacturers, Opel logos, VW etc and also people's names. I will get some pics! |

Forgot to say, I found some retrorides flyers in my boot when tidying out the car so I will try and scatter some around the 'Ring car park and see if we can get any German forum members signing up!  |

Hi All, got back from Germany late last night. Drove in one go from Adenau (near the Ring) back to Cheshire - 660 miles (excluding ferry bit) in 12 hrs, not bad going. The Golf was spot on, perfectly reliable apart from using a bit of oil (it has done over 140k now!), did over 1700 miles in 5 days, most at about 90mph. I now need new front tyres and brakes from the track action though! Pics/videos to follow when I'm at work with a decent speed connection (56k at home!) |
