Two retro motors on TG:
Sorry if this is old news, I only get a chopped-down 30 minute version on BBC World.
I haven't seen anyone else mention this (maybe I'm just being stupid as usual), so just in case the episode hasn't been shown yet in the UK, beware, the below may ruin the surprise.
----------
What did you think of the E-Type Jag and Aston DB5 on TG? I know they're still unattainable dream cars for most of us, but interesting to see how they fared both in a straight line (against a new 2.4 Honda Accord) and then with Stig round the track. The Aston completely as per factory, and the Jag with modern tyres, suspension and some beefy AP Racing brakes. In most ways they show how we've progressed, but as Clarkson and Hammond rightly agreed, you can't beat classic retro styling for sheer cool. The nearest comparison they could give was the Audi TT...IMHO barely worthy of licking the Jag's boots.
Looked like a step in the right direction to me. How about a Lotus Cortina, Mini 1275GT or Mk1 Astra GTE next time?
