OK, its a Ferrari 330. powered by a V12 quad cam motor... oh. seems to me thats a small block Chevy. in the words of Bring a Trailer's editorial - a vintage Ferrari you can actually use without fear of bankrupsy... or is it sacrelidge? the act of Chevification was carried out in 1975 and its not the first time I've seen this done to a Ferrari. As the editorial on the car says, probably cost waymore than the finished thing would be worth to restore it to V12 power. So meh. I'd spring some fat cash on getting that Chevy motor as hot as the original drive train in that car coud handle then go have some serious fun with it. if you fancy a bid its here: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280297437707&viewitem=

Choice of engine doesnt bother me too much, as long as it has a decent turn of power to match those gorgeous looks.
Interesting idea though.

I like it, but then again the V8 is an engine which has always been closer to my heart than a V12.
It looks like a bit of a scraggly bucket too, I'd simply roll it like that!
Bet it caused a real stir when it was first done though!

The V12 probably blew up and it was much cheaper to fit a chev than get it fixed, it probably makes about the same power any way, as long as its not one of those lame "smog spec" ones. How about sticking a blower with a bug catcher on it, that'd really upset the purists.
A hot LS1 from a late 'vette would be perfect though.

I dunno what all the fuss would be about, it's had a Mouse motor in it for over three times longer than it had anything from Modena!

I cant realy see how anyone can have a problem with that. It works, probably sounds as good as the original, even if it don't sound the same, and still goes like stink. At least it isnt a diesel.....

I'd buy that! And a rusty one of these as a donor. Add the two together and it might be cheaper than a pukka 330.

A couple of years ago those self same purists would happily have robbed it for its drivetrain to put it in a two seat Ferrari May even have been what happened to the original engine. Look at all the Aston DBSs that have been broken to keep DB4,5,6s alive. Look at the stuff getting broken here and tell me you wouldn't rather have them with a SB Chevy in them ;D www.eurospares.co.uk/breaking.asp

If a Ferrari has remained roadworthy after engine death and someone who isn't a millionaire has had the chance for just a bit of Ferrari ownership without bankruptcy then IMHO it's a Good Thing. There is no shortage of supercar project wrecks, I wish a few more of them would have this done to them rather than remaining forever garage jewellery.

Chev V8 rescues are du jour with olde curse word Ferraris in the states. A regular occurence. Same is being done all the time with BMW lumpectomies, where the Munich lump is simply too ridiculously expensive to reman for the value of the rest of the car. In goes a high HP Chevy to the rescue. In the case of Ferrari, a lot of them used GM TH auto trans behind the Modena lump anyway, making the GM engine transplant just that much more sensible. Those 4-seaters are bringing nothing at auction here, BTW. Not hot with hooty-tooty collectors. Pantera-money-level junque, used as parts runners down to the NAPA.
