.......that I closed down my last post without sending it? (because I'm a muppet who has just finished a night shift thats why!) Anyway, why is it that a cared for classic won't start some mornings but if you find an old car in a garage all it needs is a battery and some petrol (as long as you are going to sell it on ebay that is!) I quite like these now, didn't think much of them first time round but they are looking better with age. It also has the AA badge ready to be converted to RR. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=100932&item=4561165688&rd=1The 'new' wings don't seem to have fared well on this one cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2192&item=4560285734&rd=1If this post appears twice I'm sorry you can blame my fat fingers!

That Rekord is pretty cool! Unusually for me, I actually prefer the look of the Vauxhall equivalent... with the smooth nose. Don't see many of those nowadays! Our neighbour had a green one when I was a kid, with a green velour interior ;D

That Rekord is bad! Very very very bad! Brings back lots of memories. None of them good ones. They are born to be scrapped IMHO and nothing will ever change my mind on that. Amen.

Just cos something is good for you doesn't mean its good for everyone - for example Marmite does not make good Dog Food.

Liking the Rekord, very cool!
Oh my god though, the Moskvich, I can remember we actually had one, no two of them at one point, that was yeeeeaaars ago! Actually, they were kinda funky, in and iron curtain stylee, remote boot release, fuel filler hidden behind the number plate (which required the boot to be opened to then in turn pull down the number plate, then unlock the cap, paranoid or what?!), remote radiator blind for those hard russian winters, and quite a few other innovations not seen on quite a few european/brit cars of that time.
Also, I believe the engine was a sandcast copy of the BMW 1500 unit.

You realise I'm having to try hard to resist buying that Mosky and restoring it out of pity? ;D ;D I'd love to customise one too, the handling and brakes were dire on them, even though they were very successful racers/rally cars, mainly down to the surprisingly capable engines, that are supposedly the result of Cold War industrial spying on car factories in West Germany in the early 1960s, the result being that Mosky got their hands on BMWs plans for a new 1500cc overhead camshaft four cylinder engine, and put the prototype into production for themselves. But anyway, I reckon a little suspension tinkering, bigger brakes with braided lines and decent brake fluid, wide Weller wheels with decent modern radial tyres, and maybe even a more modern, bigger BMW 4 cylinder engine, and you'd have a right good sleeper there.

Right on Revolution! that would be awesome stuff! oh go on, do it, I would but lack of funds and the proverbial threat of a rolling pin up the back of the head from the missus prevents me!
