What the bloody hell is that? You'd have to be made of stern stuff to turn up at a car show with that fugger.

Yeah, they were wide-bodied Alfa GT's with trick engines.
I found a really good website on 'em a few months back and linked it on here. But can I find the bastid now? Did anyone bookmark the page, so we can fill the gaps in young Rob's knowledge?

no. there was a guy who owned one (Tod Wilkes's ) with 1000hp who died in 2001 in his on an australian drapstrip - hit the wall at over 150mph The 1st one made had a 3.0v6 alfa lump mid mounted. but the guys making it couldnt afford to use the alfa componetry - so used a GMH 5.0 v8 fettled by Walkinshaw racing mated to a ZF transaxle like the ones used by the Detomaso Pantera's. Formulae 1 style suspension completed the business end of the car. The chassis was an Alfa Sprint and all the body panels were Kevlar and Carbon Fibre. The whole package weighed 1086Kg. Factory performance figures have the car doing 13.5 sec ΒΌ mile times and 0-60 in 5.4 secs. Later cars reportedly did 12.9 and 4.9 with the improved engines. Tod Wilkes's car had 1000 rear hp dyno proven 850 hp before its tradgic crash. Queensland Police tested one with a view to placing orders for highway patrol duties. Only 15 were ever made. see; www.twinturbov8.com

I like the 1980s Ovation Guitar case strapped to the roof.... Is the skateboard there to keep forward momentum when the car tips over in a corner due to the weight of all the curse word on the roof?
