Fan-fapping-tastic. I used to have one like that. Silver Ghia, it was the biggest heap of shÂit ever. The only redeeming feature was being a 1600 it had the legs over all the 950cc turd-mobiles my mates had at the time. Clear lenses, slammed in the weeds, JOB DONE!
I sincerely hope that you only coughed a microscopic amout of dough for it!

Funnily enough, this one is almost identical to my brothers before he started modding it. Same colour, year... everything! It's just gonna tide me over whilst the Merc gets finished (how many times have I said that?!) My bro is gonna build a 2.0 Turbo Zetec for his. Mine's a bit more of a budget banger, so maybe just a few cosmetics will see it right! I haven't actually got it home yet so who knows there could be holes in the floor and all sorts. But until the MOT is due I don't really care!

V. nice. I always like the look of the mk3 and always wanted a gartrac rwd or RS1700T replica. Instead I ended up with a 1.1 with little or no floor and a tendency to snap rear suspension tie rods allowing a unique rear wheel steer.
Much better better looking than a mk4 IMO although I might be rebuilding a MK4 RS Turbo in the near future for a mate

Cool - i've been thinking for some time that these Escorts & the Ghias especially are now deep into retro territory with all that chrome trim & mono speaker in the middle of the dash ;D Huge scope for underbonnet upgrades too, of which it seems, your bro is fully aware mmmm. ST 170 Duratec anybody?

Drove it back today. I was a bit worried 'cos I bought it blind - I was imagining some Swiss-cheese-chassied grot-mobile... but no! Two elderly owners from new, all MOT's (why do people keep them?!), handbooks and original bill of sale! The rear arches are a bit crusty and there are a couple of patches on the sill, but apart from that it's fine. Had a bit of a heart-attack when I pulled up off the motorway though - smoke billowing from under the bonnet. Looks like I'll need to change the rocker cover gasket tomorrow as it was dripping a load of oil onto the manifold. Eeek! Right, now the fun stuff begins.... I got a set of Cloverleaf alloys my bro has donated (not 100% sure if I want to go that route but I'll see how they look), arranging a rusty oil drum for the roof thanks to tonycocacola, slam the thing (and this time I promise I WILL slam it!! ;D).... that's about it! Unless you lot put more ideas in my head!

Paint the standard wheels red, and keep the chrome wheel trims. Ace!
