After my Citroen ZX retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=45539&page=1#650427blew up dramatically at a petrol station and had to be scrapped, I needed a new car ASAP. Luckily Captain Wow on this site came to the rescue as he knew someone nearby selling this Sierra for £295. Its good to have a proper wheel drive car again and I just hope this one lasts a bit longer than my previous cars. (this is the 4th this year!) Its in a good nick for its age, got a bit of rust on the N/S rear arch and the paintwork is very faded and needs a good polishing but I'll get to that. Being a 1.8 Diesel I thought it would be deathly slow but I was pleasantly suprised to find it pulls well in all the gears once the turbo has spooled up and I've even managed to get it sideways in the dry a couple of times! Plans are : -Give it a good polish -Remove towbar -Lowered on chopped springs -Set of Ford rims, possibly Mondeo 5spokes (similar to Escort Cossie rims) -Maybe tune up the TD a little bit, exhaust, IC etc The all important turbo!! Mileage is on 33000 but as its only a 5digit odometer I'm not sure if this is actually the mileage. What happens if it clocks overr 100k? Any Sierra fanboys help me out?

Looks like a goodun and I love the sound of your plans for the old girl! And yes the 33,342 could be 133,342 or 233,342! LOL!
Add an intercooler and wind the fueling/boost up ideal ;D

Yea, my friend Dan has (or had) one of these, never had much grief from it at all and I was always quite impressed with it.
Good purchase!

Cheers gents, yeah I'm happy with it so far, its a bit rough on idle from a cold start but apart from that no problems as yet, and everything seems to work which makes a change. I'm just hoping it will get through the MOT alright then I'll commence work on it! I know next to nothing about tuning diesels though, I assume the principles the same, filter, FMIC, exhaust? Bet an exhaust would sound terrible though!

If the pumps are the same as the older Mondeo ones there is a tweak you cand do to make the extra fuel for boost come in earlier Pretty bomb proof but make sure the timing and injector pump belts get changed on time at the latest, as I think some of these can snap the cam when they go Nice find tho, I am a bit partial to old Sierras

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

What happened to the ZX then? I have a set of Ford Scorpio Ultima multi spoke wheels if you want them The ZX snapped the alternator belt which led to a whole host of other problems. My mechanic reckoned the timing had gone way out and a cylinder had gone as well! Almost set on fire at a petrol station and just about made it to the scrappy - was pouring out huge amounts of smoke, couldn't go above 40 and cut out at anything below 20! Any pics of the wheels please mate?

Like these ones, they aren't in perfect condition but are presentable. I quite like those, condition isnt that improtant as they'd be resprayed anthracite anyway. How much would you want for them and do they have tyres?

Front mounted intercooler chopped into the front bumper FTW Cheers matey, yeah a FMIC may have to be done A Saab 9000 intercooler is huge and fits quite neatly infront of the sierra radiator. I've already got one (for when I eventually fit the turbo bits to my Sierra! Late 2009 looks good ) I have trial fitted it and it's a good fit the outlets need to be at the bottom though, but honest its a good fit. DO IT!!!!!!!! cgi.ebay.co.uk/Saab-9000-Aero-Intercooler-200-sx-s13-s14-kit-car_W0QQitemZ380064802012CHEAP AS CHIPS ;D

Nice buy It is very common to get crusty rear arches on Sierras You may be planning this anyway but it is really worth while changing the front suspension bushes for poly ones, it makes a big difference to the handling

I will get round to finishing it at some point
