Something i've noticed cropping up a lot in adverts on the telly is cars that have had their identities taken away. There was an insurance ad with a BMW that had been stripped of all its lines so that it almost looked volvo like, one of the mondeo ads had loads of old fords that had been slightly altered so that you had to really look twice to work out what they were and the the other day i saw one with a 700 series volvo with a hatchback Does anyone know of any others or have any pictures, my google fu is really weak here.

Eugh this really annoys me. Especially when a manufacturor is using their own cars. Why hide their own?
Peugeot do this on their new advert with the people pushing the 505 estate with the modified grill.
At the end of the ad it shows the new model driving past the 505, and two 405's.
I do hate it when they put a bit of tape over the badge and you can still make out the logo.

BMW North America is close to where I live, they pull this nonsense all the time. You'll see the new 7 series running around, they tape over the BMW and the "750iL" badges only... like they're fooling anyone.

Eugh this really annoys me. Especially when a manufacturor is using their own cars. Why hide their own? I don't think they're allowed to use other manufacturers cars. If they're making other cars look bad it has to be a direct comparison eg. official fuel economy figures.

Couldn't agree more, I learnt to drive in a R4 great little car that could mud-plug all day. Skinny wheels + not much power = can drive across fields. Plus it had useful handle thingies on the front so two people could drag it free if needed ;D

Genius!11 Yup, I've seen that and having seen the tradeins at local car supermarkets then I'd say its also pretty accurate sadly enough! LOL. Buy a car, abuse it, beat it and then trade it in for one the same just not quite so knackered and repeat. All the time while asking how someone can run a car more than 10 weeks old, how can it be reliable?
