Summary
Offered for sale is my superb Vauxhall Chevette hatchback. Only 2 owners from new and a huge folder of history totalling nearly £4000.
Car comes with all its history, original old style logbook and obviously the new V5c, original bill of sale.
In my opinion this is the best Vauxhall Chevette 1256 on offer anywhere.
About this car
The car was purchased new in 1982 by its original owner in Dudley West Midlands, and was his pride and joy until 3 – 4 years ago when he gave up driving. I had been looking for a Chevette for a few months when I came across this one semi locally. I had wanted another Chevette as it had been my first (and second) car. I went to look at this car and it had just passed its MOT first time after being laid up for a couple of years. In the past 12 months or so I have spent a small fortune on the car to bring back to better than new condition.
The car has a full service history with a folder full of receipts for everything this car has ever had done. I have the original bill of sale, and the old style logbook prior to V5c being issued, all handbooks and a Haynes manual and finally all previous MOT’s
Exterior
Totally standard Chevette hatchback which has recently undergone a minor restoration. Prior to buying the car the previous owner had acquired a pair of genuine Vauxhall front wings and rear wheel arches which had been fitted well but the paint was best described as patchy. In April this year for its MOT I had 2 new sills fitted and some minor welding on one of the wishbones.
Once this was completed I booked the car into a professional body shop for a respray, I have plenty of photos of the car along its way which show the first class work of the spray cost a fair bit too!
The original wheels have been repainted and all with good branded tyres, I also have a set of Rostyles included with the sale with nearly new tyres and rare Vauxhall centre caps. These wheels will need a refurb however before fitting.
Interior
Just as it should be, matching grey interior in excellent condition. Recently refurbed original Philips radio MW / LW now sounds as good as these things ever will. The only addition I have made is to add inertia seatbelts to the rear of the car so that I could take my children out safely for a drive.
Summary
If you are looking for perhaps the best 1256 Chevette available then this could well be it. The car has had a much pampered existence. The main reason for sale is ironically I have made the car too good for what I wanted to do with it, so it is time to sell on and buy something else. The car is getting very little use and never goes out in the rain.
