Inspired by the Racing Week Special in RSM a few weeks back I found this link to some retro Grasstrack racing: retrograsser.piczo.com/readerspicturespage1?cr=3&linkvar=000044#Some absolutely fantastic pictures of Grasstrack racing from the 1960's to present day! Hotlinking the pics is not allowed so you'll have to have a look I find grasstrack racing quite interesting- There seems to be a wide range of different modifications between competitors (unlike the majority of Motorsport) from reverse raked roof-chops on family hatchbacks to a stripped-to-the-bone all out racer! Any one of those pics could be a screenshot from a post-apocalyptic 'Mad Max' style film. It looks great! Anyone into Grasstrack racing here? Anyone got any good pics to share?

Regular grass tracking just North of Nottingham (field near Oxton) if you are interested in seeing some live. Only few quid to get in, watch and wander about the very interesting pits.
I've been a few times, and a relation-in-law races. In fact I may have sourced one of his mates next cars to be prep'ed - a Mk2 Scirocco, which is different...

I've been to Oxton and Darley Moor to watch my friends compete and as you say there is some amazing stuff that has been thought out and built.

Autograss (or Jalopy Racing as it was then called) was the first motorsport I ever saw in the flesh in the summer of 1970 aged 5, I have quite vivid memories of it. That site's brilliant!! Lurking on one of the 1980's pages is a guy called Norman Grasby who I've known for over 20 years. He and his brother Graham were both National Champions in different classes back in about 1982, indeed the long-forgotten 'Auto Perfomance' magazine ran a feature on them both in '83 or '84. Both Norman and Graham are still heavily involved with the sport and so are their offspring (Norman's son James runs a twin-bike engined Class 10, it's devastatingly quick). Amazing to see how the sport's progressed from the motorised bedsteads of 35 years ago to today.

Cool. Back in my teens I raced on the grass and Dirt in New Zealand, driving a mates car (young ,dumb etc ) a lolite Morris with a Holden grey motor . Not the fastest thing on the track because of the overweight full chassis but the safest..I think ;D Heres a link to the track I raced on. meremere-dirt-track-club.org/home.htm

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
