So I've just bought a 1988 Honda CRX and could use some ideas. At the moment its going to be lower a bit and some wheels (ideas?) and possibly some roof cheques. I want it to be retro not modern so no chav lights! To start heres my new ride

A guy I used to work with had a silver CRX on momo arrows. An all-time classic modern-ish wheel imo. It looked stunning. It was lowered slightly, but I don't know what diameter the wheels were, sorry.

I think give it the obligatory hit with the stick then something race inspired akin the compomotive CX but with black centres and a diamond cut rim but only a 15" rim for me, too easy to 'over wheel' a small car like these and then they look . Job done, less is more with these they are a great looking car and really don't need a lot of external mods. Here's my old one(that I never actually got to the track!) that I sold recently..

PROPER one: Simple way to make it look good... 1) Slam it RIGHT down on coilys 2) Dishy 15/16s

Love the deep dish on that one topi, bit low for a daily but definatly a good plan. Momo's are nice, but a little too modern I think, but I might be wrong. Definatly agree with 15inch being the right size though So good ideas so far, but any more for any more?

this is my first one, all it had done to it mods wise, 16" borbet alloys 225 wide, 225/45/16 = pricey tyres , stainless exhaust, lowered alot but never rubbed or anything ftw, induction kit. sounded deadly, hella solid handled great but didnt grip, as i got the only partworn tyres i could find, £100+ a corner otherwise.. my second 16v had a b16 vtec fitted. looked 100% stock bar the 5zigen stainless exhaust, but it was fecking rapid and loud! 15" wheels are best performance wise but 16" look better, still perform quite well. coilovers, wheels, nice exhuast, brake upgrade. they don't need much else get on crx-uk for tonnes of info. they're not as open minded or creative on crx-uk as RR tho, in regards to modding and ideas that havnt been done before.

And mine; late '89 JDM SiR (B16A) with factory LSD, ALB, Glass-roof, climate-control, Pwr steering Etc. Bit overweight with all the options though (1030kg?), so probably a little miss-matched torque wise to its close-ratio g-box (high 1st,low 5th) and possibly not really as cruisable or even quick off-the-line as long-stroke D16 DOHC 16v unless you're really trying, though the Vtec power just keeps building until you're bouncing it off the rev limiter. Not done a thing to it but Koni shocks and removing the factory rear spoiler -even worse to look through than the more common dealer-option 'basket handle'. Period 15x6.5 aftermarket japanese alloys were on it when bought (JDM might have got steels std?), with higher profile tyres on back! & overly retro Nardi steering wheel (back to std) with 'TypeR' style cast alloy g-knob added later.

it just needs some very cool J wheels and a nice bit of lowering. cant go worng very nice looking car you've got there. a bit of slammage and some rims is all these need don't bother with 16's. 14's or 15's max, 13's will go on if you keep the stock brakes too. i've had both the mk1 and mk2 and deffo plan on owning another one of these days. icey posted a pic of my old one above, but heres another couple with 14's (bronze) and 15's (black)
