My first proper camera was a Zenit E. The olympic model
Was a good camera. I got a Praktika MTL 5 too. But it was unreliable.
I got rid of them.
Recently I saw one in a junk shop. But it didnt work. Well not after I tried to fix it.

WOWZERS! My first good camera was a Zenit-E .....I got it from my dad when he progressed onto a Nikon FM (or similar) I had the full kit.....Photsniper, filters etc! The pics it took were amazing and it was a joy to use...heavy as f*ck though. Interestingly, I was on hoilday in Cornwall a couple of years back and there was a guy having a garage sale.....he had a little sign saying 'take anything you like and post through the letterbox what you think its worth'There was an immaculate Zenit EM sitting there in its case so I slipped a crispy £10 through the letter box and was well pleased with myself

I have a Zenit-E Moscow olympics edition - great camera! Really solid and nice to use. I collect retro cameras... that reminds me, I have to post up my little collection. I don't have any Lomos (Been priced out due to scene tax ) but I have a few interesting ones.

Nice set-up there! I have a Zenit 11, it's a great piece of kit. I love the way it makes the photos I take look 30 years old!

are lomos scene as well now? ffs Yeah. Well, I think so anyway - a camera that was made to be cheap and accessible to the masses has become trendy and sell for really high prices. You can still get Smenas quite cheap though. Lomos do take great unique photos, so I reckon the popularity is deserved... I'm just bitter cos I can't afford one! ;D

I used to have a Practika SLR with a load of lenses in mint codition, but I sold it all for £45 when I was a poor student and needed to eat.

the only problem with it is its silver! black cameras are the only way! Mines a TTL but its just as curse word at metering as the early ones.. It takes photos like this GRAIN FTW!!

Very nice, love to see old kits like that complete with the case. I've got an Olympus OM1 & few bits, including the rare 55mm f1.2 lense. Really must use it more.

christ that's a memory jogger.. my first 35mm was a Zenit XP, can't remember what happened to it but i have the horrible feeling that my parents chucked it when i moved out >.< that was the one i had had that with standard 50mm lens, a 200mm fixed zoom lens, 2x screw in converter and a shoe-mounting flashgun weighed a ton and was very mechanical to use, i moved on to an om2 olympus though
