And why do you prefer one to the other? How many carbs. do you have on your cars engine? Difficulty level of tuning them? Any other positive or negative happenings with them? (Almost forgot)Are those carbs side-draft or downdraft? Thank you for voting and sharing

Gotta love SUs, so simple to use and set up. Fitted to everything from Minis to E types and Bentleys. I've got some bike carbs to play with too, so I may end up loving them as well! Got twin 40s for Madge too but not fitted yet.

I had to pick "other" cos there isnt a box for Keihin and I have two cos I have to. Siamiesed ports and all On everything else? There is a stromberg CD175 on the chevanne, no box for that either, tut tut (although Zenith built them, its not the same as a zenith aka lawnmowa carb.... everything else I have is diesel, or injected ;D

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I *heart* SU's. So simple, yet effective. I do prefer fuel injection though...

I have been toying with the idea of triple webers on the old Merc straight six, may have just got me hands on some side draft 40's

I like my Weber DCOE's because they are so simple and easy to set up. Fixed jets and all you have to do is balance them every now and then. I'm dabbling with SU's on the other engine which is all new to me. I don't think I'll ever know as much about them as I do the DCOE's. I prefer the DCOE design over the SU but the balance bar on the SU setup is far superior.

I'm going for webers, cos they are simple and reliable, just the simple act of chucking a standard carb and replaceing it with a second hand weber can improve a lot of engines, but, in this day and age i cant see why anyone would stick with carbs when injection is soooo much better, more power, better economy, no flat spots or cold start problems and individual throttle bodies can easily look and sound as good as carbs.

I have Dellorto 40's for my twin engined project. I've heard good things about them and they sound wonderful too! I will have 4 carbs, two per engine......... I'm looking forward to hearing what quad 40's will sound like on song but I aint looking forward to the mpg figures!

Twin 45 Dellortos, great looking and sounding, plus have a better design (more accurate/tunable plus higher quality parts) and are cheaper than Webers, the only thing that can beat them is a set of throttle bodies and thats only on part load - can you tell I love em ;D

I'm with you there. I find injection easier to fix too, as everything is modular. I'm a big fan of Bosch K-Jetronic. Way simpler than carbs (IMO) and works without the need for computers.
