I've not posted on this board for a long time now and was quite concerned when I discovered www.retro-rides.com didn't work and is now some crappy advert spam site but some searching later and here I am
An update anyway as it must be over a year or so since i've posted anything, the last posts I did were about doing a v8 conversion on my MGB and the good old picture challenge threads! thats if anyone remembers them.......but to be fair I never posted much anyway....
Now back to the thread subject......I've had one those months (well 6 months...) on my MGB that has consisted of, well up's and down's!
Now i'm sitting here in Newquay after walking round town all day watching the cars drive round completely gutted i've not been able to bring my MGB down
On a real downer with it at the moment as it seems that sometimes no matter how much time you spend on a car doing it right, it still lets you down I was even considering selling it and getting something newer when I realised the diff was knackered which is not like me as i'm very much anti new cars......
Anyone else had bad luck with a project recently? anyway enough ranting from me, not exactly a happy return post is it? lol
Anyway just to cheer me up here's a photo of it from the car show at Drayton Manor the other weekend when it was all working!
When I get back from newquay i'll do a readers ride post, as its undergone quite a few mods since I last posted on here. Will put some in progress pic's of the bonnet bulge/scoop (all steel and grafted off something japanese ) , debumpering etc

- First of all it passes mot first time after the conversion
- I then have a nightmare getting the bodywork sorted for a self prep respray trying to do it outside in winter - anyone else experienced the delight of filler not going hard and having to scrape it all off and start again because its been got to cold/wet to go off due to doing it outside.....
- Cheap self prepared respray turns out to be a very good job for the price and my prep work was upto to a standard i'm happy with (was really paranoid my prep would not be upto scratch)
- Take it to a car show and it gets a good reaction - I wasn't sure what people would think of a slightly modded mg
- Then 3 days before planning to drive to newquay (RTTS) for a bank holiday weekend break the £750 v8 axle fails and renders the car undriveable after only covering 479 miles
