It might be time for me to part with my beloved 318is. Before you go any further, it is not a minter, so if you're looking for a clean example this is not for you!
It has the much sought after 1.8 twin cam 16v BMW M42 engine, and has only done just under 124,000 miles. MOT til August, tax until end of Feb '09. It's basically the sports version of the 318i and aswell as the 16v engine it also boasts discs all round, bigger struts and uprated ARBs. It drives fantastically and is an absolute hoot. It doesn't use even a little bit of oil or water and apart from the central locking seizing on me (since been fixed with different parts) it's been 100% reliable. The standard 14" BBS wheels have been swapped with the sought after 15" BBS. It's had an oil change since I bought it in November, and at the same time the hydraulic timing tensioner was changed. It has the lovely checkered sport seats, m-tech steering wheel and gear knob. It's been lowered on lower springs front and rear (with 1 coil lopped off the front even further), as a result it's not overly low and can clear speed bumps easily, but has a nice stance. It's currently running IS m-tech shocks. It's had harness mount eye hooks fitted for track days, although one is missing on the passenger side.
Bad points:
Although the tensioner has been changed, it has got a slight timing chain rattle. It's been described as not brilliant, but not bad at the same time. You notice it most when it's cold, and from then on it's not so bad. The car is dented, and the rear valence is especially bad. The headlights need a good adjustment. When I got the car, it had some surface rust. I decided black hammerite looked better and I don't have the time to respray properly, so took the top layer off and painted it, though it needs to be done again. The bottom of the passenger wing is starting to go, but I can supply a good condition black wing and valences if needed. Missing it's IS lip.
This would make an absolute track weapon, as I found out last month. The reason I'm selling is that my E21 with 318is engine will be ready soon, and these cars are too similar. Although it has got a few bad points, this car more than makes it up. Mint a 318is can make £1500 at the moment. £185 was just spent on it for road tax so I'm asking
£600 ONO
