I love mods like that, quite pointless but worth doing just to show they can be done. My mate Ben (polodragin on here) has a tunnel ram off a Ford 302 Windsor which was fitted with Cleveland heads, called a Clevor. Apparantley it was a well known mod in the 70s/80s before aftermarket heads too off, as the Cleveland heads have huge ports. Sadly nobody does it any more as aftermarket heads are cheaper, don't require as much work and flow loads better. Edit - Just found a link www.mustangandfords.com/techarticles/30220_clevor_engine/index.htmlwww.darkhorseracing.net/clevor_head_mod.htmMatt I could be talking out of my here but isn't that how Ford made the Boss engines? Stuff like this is intriguing, I remember seeing a very brief snippet somewhere on the internet about fitting Porsche 928 heads onto an American big block, Chevy I think? 7 litre 32v V8 anyone? ;D ...or that a volvo 16v head will almost go on a 2.3 ford lima engine... There's a thing in this month's Classic Ford about the Warrior twin-cam head for the Pinto, says that the head was originally designed for a Volvo engine in the early '70s and someone noticed the similarity in bore spacing and bolt pattern...

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

this is proper english style car modding imo (doesnt have to be done in england/by and englishman of course) i just think finding availble parts that'l fit and do the job you want from other cars/bikes/lighthouses is a very english thing to do. its ace.
and the point is the guy wanted a 16v head on his B series, not a zetec!!!
since when did RR start wondering why people do stuff??

I always wonder why people do stuff. understanding the motivation behind something helps me a lot. My comment wasn't a criticism, I love what he's done, and thoroughly stand behind the idea of making something work because you can, I'm just confused by the t9. I thought the whole point had been to avoid modding the drivetrain at all by re-engineering the head, but if he is using the ford box, that means adapter plate, hybrid clutch, prop issues, and a hacked tunnel/gearstick hole. Kinda negates the point of keeping the "B" bottom end, and makes fitting the whole zetec an easier job. Unless the point was to use the bits he had, and not buy anything. Start at random point and build car... THAT I can understand

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

I think, going back over the years, that he'd already run the Ford box for some time and he's well known in Marina circles for doing things just to prove it can be done. I believe he quoted the bore centres on the Zetec and the B series are identical and the studs are close enough. AFAIK he runs electronic ignition (already there) but as for the rest.......

Interesting stuff. Probably saves a bit of weight too.

Very interesting - The Head on the B-series has always been the limiting factor. With HRG crossflow heads the B-series can make approx 120BHP, so with an even better head like the Zetec one could probably see 130BHP(?).
I'm in the process of fitting a whole Zetec in my MGB so will not be copying this although it would have been very cool, but too much engineering for me.
I'd love a indepth write up tho!
