.... that if you 'mess' with old cars, there will be last minute glitches before the MOT ....After waiting 2 weeks for a rear brake flexi for the Sceptre from a Rootes specialist (after being sent a front one... ) I got one on Thursday from a local brake specialist (for half the price... ). Fitted it today, bled the rear brakes, had the drums off and cleaned the dust out. Brakes felt a bit spongy, took off front wheels and pumped some fresh fluid through the front brakes, still spongy. Had a look under the back of the car to see if I could get to the bleed nipples with the wheels on... err, why is there a pool of brake fluid on the floor? Because the 'kin wheel cylinder is leaking, that's why.... and the MOT is booked for 5.00 Tuesday Hopefuly the aforementioned brake specialist will have one in stock... or at a pinch a seal kit, bearing in mind I re-sealed them when I bought the car 3 1/2 years ago...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

A few years back when i first got into Imps i bought a kingpin repair kit from a well known Imp specialist only to find out I could have got it cheaper from A1 Stores This was about ten years ago. That Imp specialist is still expensive and beaten on price by the the other Imp suppliers.

That, I believe, is called "Sod's Law". Discovered by Ernest Periwinkle Sod in 1864 after he took it upon himself to take a leisurely stroll around his local park, to enjoy the morning sunshine. As it was a nice day he left his sou'wester on the coat rack. Halfway around the park it proceeded to curse word it down. Ernest Sod was reputed to have exclaimed, "well that's just sod's law isn't it?". And so the legend was born. That's what some bloke down the pub told me anyway. He also says that Porsche engines "just go straight in" to a Beetle engine bay.

Yeah... that one stuck / sheared bolt that stops absolutely everything until it's removed. I think that's called the "f**king piece of useless sh*t b***ard ar*e f*ck sh*t b*llocks bolt". At least that's what I call them . I had the electrics totally die on my Skoda as I was on my way to the MOT! That wasn't fun but was soon found to be a loose battery terminal (held on by one of the above mentioned types of bolt most probably)

I think that's called the "f**king piece of useless sh*t b***ard ar*e f*ck sh*t b*llocks bolt". I'm lead to believe that this type of bolt was factory fitted solely to p*ss us off 20 plus years later ;D

As far as I can tell, it's the only bolt British Leyland carried...

Rang a local Alpine specialist this morning, who told me he had a cylinder in stock but 'wasn't open because of the bank holiday' ....... The place where I got the flexi wasn't open.... Looks like a day off tomorrow....

I'm not sure if I like bank holidays or not.... great having the extra time to do stuff but unless the job you intend to do is planned with military precision, with all the parts collected beforehand, things can go very "breasts aloft" cos nowhere's open! ;D Well, except Halfrauds but I'd rather go to Mothercare as I think they stock more car parts!
