;D Hello all, thought it was about time I joined this merry mob... some user names I recognise from OJC and Datman forums... Anyway just thought it appropriate to start by adding a couple of slow progress shots of where I am to date with my car.. Car as it was puchased in 2004 with all its tasteful colour coding! 2005 -1st trial of alloys... 260z cobra slotmags.... too big! 2006 - 2nd set of alloys... 910 SSS 100+ 20 spokes... 2007 - lowered using KYB us import gas shocks and Datsun 510 Australian import King springs. 2008 - Sat on Genuine Enkei 2 piece focus racing split rims imported from Canada So far so good! Next job - replace fibre glass front wings with Genuine steel items! Oh and forget to mention head has been polished and ported and fitted with a 72 rally spec wade cam imported from Australia. Also running electronic igntion. Inside has been reupholstered and has a Califonian import momo steeing wheel. Most of the colour coding has now been removed !

very nice. whats the spec? thanks chaps, it running its original 1600 twin carb single overhead cam motor and original 4 speed box ( as its a mark 1 coupe). Head was ported when I got the car ( was used as a tow car for grasstrack bikes in the 80's!) When it dropped a valve last year I took the opportunity to have it skimmed and had quite a wild cam put in it. Its dead in 1st gear below 3000rpm which is a bit tricky round town but is great on the open road!... and pulls well on the motorway too! If your brave enough with 35 yr old brakes, 100mph is easy ( just not advisable!) !!

Great to see it is evolving nicely. Any plans for the front spoiler? yep, fibreglass wings and spoiler are knackered close up showing craks etc in paint. I ve some metal wings in the garage to go on and am thinking of adding a mk1 golf gti chin spoiler to the bottom once done!

this is so well presented, looks amazing, swap for slightly used liver or arm?? Thanks... if I'm honest the paint ( on its second coat of original 252 blue) isnt quite so good and long term will need respraying! Another job for another day.... wings and seats take priority at the moment... These had been sitting in my garage for two years... sized them up this afternoon for inspriation! ;D

Another job for another day.... wings and seats take priority at the moment... These had been sitting in my garage for two years... sized them up this afternoon for inspriation! ;D[/quote] My 2p worth.... I would take the seats to a good re-upholsterer and get him to replace all the seating,sponge/bolsters etc with modern day materials. The idea would be that you retain the period design and look of the seats , whilst having modern day comfort. Yes, this will be more expensive than chucking in a set of seats from a modern hatch, but as the rest of the car has that factory feel about it, why detract from it? Do you have a lower valance for the car? I assume that the fibregalss spoiler that you have at the moment has done away with the factory valance? As advised, I have a mate who could fit the front wings, valance and respray just the front half....and £ permitting, the remainder of the car could be done later. As for the GTI chin spoiler, I am going to hold back my judgement until I see it on the 710. I have seen 710's in J-land and they do NOT carry the front spoiler too well, as they have a "shark nose" and the chin spoiler tends to break the flow of the lines.

hi preet, thats a good idea about the seats... they have been reuphostered once inblack by the previous owner but i think they must have forgotten to put the sponge back in!! I appreciate your suggestion of yourfriend sorting the front end out. At the minute I'm in two minds what to do.... i think the fibreglass spliitter is attached to the original valence underneath, or thats how it appears! Until i get the wings off its hard to tell! A mate of mine works as a sprayer just half a mile from me so i may just strip the front off, fit the new ones on and ask him to spray it up for the time being!
You may well be right about the golf chin spolier... its just a thought at this stage!
