I've become very bored of my Volvo 850 Estate (never anything to fix on it lol)
I bought it 18months ago to tow my track car about with and use as a daily driver, I'd prefer something rwd this time but cannot decide what
Very shortlist I've come up with is
MK2 Granada 240 Volvo MK2 Transit
Something that runs on veggie oil would be nice
Budget is around 1k

don't want another 4x4, did think about the 7 and 9 series Volvos but decided against them

W123 or W124 Mercedes wagon? Diesel varieties fetch a premium though I believe.
Was your 850 a T-5...perhaps an upgrade might be worthwhile if it wasn't...not exactly an economical solution!

W124 oil burners can still be had pretty cheap. Was tempted when I was looking for a diesel but the W123 just has more classic kudos.
Oh but I'd avoid auto - 27mpg with my 300D and only 88bhp so not exactly good for towing. It seems to struggle with just our two-berth tiny caravan!

My 850 is a 2.5 10V, its good for towing just boring, T5 would just wheel spin everywhere

Big engined BMW estate. 5 or 3 series but better a 5 if you're going for a tow car. Can you get a manual 535 estate?

you need a proper car Alfa 90 2,5 V6, ohh what a glorious ride, the sound, the grip, the looks... As an alternative, curse word chic ride would be the Rayton Fissore Magnum. believe it ore not, its easy to get parts, based on the short Iveco turbo 4x4 and has engine from alfa, lancia or VM. Fancy something soft ? Citroên CX pre. 85. The "modern" flying carpet never stops to impress...

stuff the 240 volvos, go the 164 I can understand your reliability problem with the 850, the other issue with them is that exhaust note, so even its just designed to put you to sleep! how about an 850T though? turbos are fun
