So I was remembering a beige Hillman Hunter that used to be round here a year or so ago. Slammed on five spoke alloys, it looked REALLY cool. Got googling for some pics: When I remembered that you can still get them in Iran, new... Called the Peykan: What other old stuff is out there still being made? I'm sure I read that you can get Rover SD1s in Iran or somewhere similar, badged as Triumphs... Wonder how much similairty there is between a new Peykan and a Hunter? Oooh, nice new shell would make a great project! ;D

The one in the Peugeot 206 advert, where the guy uses an Elephant (and lots of filler presumably) to make it into a 206? We had one of those Oxfords for a little while, sold it on cos it was too ambitious for us. But the interior was fab, lots of red leather everywhere

Standard 2000: "The SD1 was sold to the Indian sub-continent's Standard car company for production as the company's new entry into the executive car market. Sales were dismal due to the high price of the car, and it lasted only three seasons."

So who wants to deal with the red tape of getting a Peykan out of Iran?? Err... I think could be a bit of a stumbling block! And I bet shipping/transport wouldn't be cheap either! I've seen a Hindustan Ambassador a few times in Liverpool, wonder how that got over here?

VW South Africa CitiGolf: Sadly 5 door only and with a weird Mk2 Golf front end, along with a crease in the rear pillar like on a Mk1 Jetta. Strange...

Remember the Hillman Avenger? Of course you do! I don't. Much to young. Besides we had this Look familar? Plymouth Cricket. Botched import. When production ceased in 81 it moved to Argentina to become this The VW 1500. Also built by Chrysler in Brazil and sold as the Dodge 1800 and Polara

Then there was the Audi Fox, facelifted, moved to Brazil, got a tan, came back as the VW Fox. Not really original idea mind you but picked up buyers that didn't care for the Audi's reputation over here.

The Vauxhall/Opel Kadett has been reincarnated here a couple times as well. First as the Chevy Chevette NA Brazil and Pontiac Acadian And then the Pontiac LeMans built for NA in Korea I could do without the colour *****It's always better to link directly to the image not the url where it's hosted - right click on image and select 'View Image', then copy that location.******

The old (and rather sexy) sherpa which started production in 74 is still being made by L.D.V ,who obviously have the same product development budget as M.G. Rover ;D

obviously have the same product development budget as M.G. Rover ;D Now days it looks like MG Rover's production deparment consists of driving to Halfords and seeing what body kits they can get for the standard Rover family cars....

I've seen a Hindustan Ambassador a few times in Liverpool, wonder how that got over here? I've seen them advertised in some of the classic car mags, they can be bought new in the UK either as 1.8 Izuzu petrol or 2.0 diesel
