...BMW E3s. Not the oft-lauded coupe, but the forgotten saloon. Better looking than the 7 that replaced it IMO I'm trying to decide what colour and wheels I want, not sure yet ;D Not cross-spoke BBS types, too common!

I had two of these and yes, they are great cars. I had a 2500 and a 3.0S.
The factory handbooks quoted the 2500 as having 150 bhp and the 3.0S having 200bhp. Had it been a 3.0Si I'd have had an extra 20bhp.
These are quick cars despite there size.

220bhp from a 3.0 na, in the mid 70's, not bad at all.
Ford injected 2.8 v6, mid 80's: 150bhp.

pretty sure Karmann didn't do the bodies. both my cars were very solid. gutted to think i had both those cars at the same time + loads of spares. Got offered a 3.3LiA for a £100 but turned it down coz the head gasket had gone. Would be worth loads now

When I was a kid I went with my Dad round second-hand dealers looking for a car to replace the family Allegro. I really really wanted him to buy this black 3.0 saloon - it was SO cool. Big comfy seats, BMW badge (envy of all my mates etc) and lovely 6 cylinder motor.
He bought another Allegro, a beige 1750HLS with a brown vinyl roof. Hmm.

I remember a similar experience with my Dad...except I really wanted him to buy a Granada Ghia coupe that he/I was keen on. I think he was pretty close to getting it when the side stripe fell off and left a line of rather bad rust along the rear quarter.

Had an E3 that I was going to build into a daily driver, but the guy doing the work never touched it in over a year, so I sold it on the 'bay this time last year. 3.0Si too... curse word, was pretty rotten though, sold it to a guy in Leeds who's virtually finished it and put it back on the road. Reckon it would have been a tool... Looks like fun

Great cars old Beemers, I'd definately go for a stealthy big saloon with a 3 litre, or maybe even a more subtle coupe, the whole batmobile thing's a bit of a cliche, isn't it?
