Yea, get the fluids sorted stat with some fresh, might be worth dropping the transmission pan and changing the filter too, if possible. Then a jolly good consumable servicing, grease everything, lube all the rubbers (fnaar), seals, etc........ Great stuff though!  |

I'm gonna top up the ATF to get it home and then it's time for lots of work. Sadly due to financial constraints i doubt i'll have it on the road for Wheels day. Grrrr |

I can vouch for the hopelessness of the vacuum central locking. Doesn't work on my W123 but then there's generally only me getting in it so who cares?

Excellent! I can vouch for the hopelessness of the vacuum central locking. Doesn't work on my W123 but then there's generally only me getting in it so who cares? LOL, indeed. I just find it madly ironic that a car such as that, utterly chock full of electronics to power everything fron the windows right down to the bloomin' headrests, does not have electronicly operated locking. But i guess vacuum locks are a common fixture in a lot of cars. |

I once had the notion of fitting vacuum C/L to my car from a W123, as it was an option on mine. I got stuck into stripping out the pipes from one down the scrappy until it started to look like an explosion at a macaroni factory and gave up. Way too much hassle for the sake of reaching across the car.  ;D |

glad to hear you got it sorted.
the vacuum CL are nearly always fooked on these and the 123´s. I fitted those cheap ebay remote thingeys, for the sake of an afternoons mucking around fitting it and twenty quid was always well worth the effort.
...and normally quicker than trying to find the airleek in the original system...! ;D
If you do fancy hunting air leeks, disconnect one door at a time and bung the pipe up. If the CL works after that you know which door is loosing air....don´t forget the boot and the filler cap!
