Following on from my newbie thread, I thought I should put some pictures of my 924S up. Hope you like. Bone stock 1987 Porsche 924S. Daily and Half arsed project. As I'm from the Dub scene it'll be going that way. So wide alloys, stretch and drop. Nothing major just tidying up really. I quite like the idea of 16" tele's in 7s and 8s. Anyway thank for looking.

Muchos cool. I was looking at a few of these recently (trying to find one with the pump, 'belts and clutch already sorted!). Are they as good as everyone says they are? They always look like good fun

Cheers for all your possitive comments! Shes not perfect but very good nick. Lewis: You'll be very lucky to find one with the lot done. They're at that special age were owners don't tend to treat them to well. Mine seems to be a good one though with a nice stack of papers. I may be biased but they are very good cars, extremely well balanced and will dispatch most things. The best thing though, on the motorway no matter whats in front of you they get out of the way! I'd recommend them, cost to fun ratio is VERY much stacked in the fun camp ;D trg1984: I was actually looking for either a Grey or blue one. Even promised myself I wouldnt buy a red one as I hate red cars! But I'm glad I went for it now. Girls love it and non car people all seem to think its an old ferrari. The car in the background is my Arosa. I put some pictures of her up when I joined, here: retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1201608360&page=1

Nice 924S, better option that a 944 as they go the same but seem to rot less without the 944 arches and sills. Also looks far more understated and 'classic' IMO. 944 is a bit "look at my willy".
Had a poke around one recently and they look less DIY friendly than the Audi van lump in the 924 but not impossible. Now I miss my 924 even more. Wife says I can have a new PC or a 924 for Birthday. Given my PC is w2k and I don't have space for another car I'm stuck!

I always thought the 944 was a bit shoulder pad build up.
From a DIY point of view, its a hell of a lot easier to play with than my Arosa!

What kind of wheels are you going for? BBS RS?
I've noticed that some 924s are 5x130 and some are 4 stud? What stud pattern are the 4 stud ones? 4x100?

IIRC the earlier ones ran 4 stud but they are 4 x108
I reckon a set of 928 winter wheels would look great on that 924S

I think these are almost ready to have their day.
Now affordable-ish, and seem to be making many owners happy.
Nice pics too, Enjoy.

If there's rot (not the odd bit of rust) then it's usually down to it being abused or poor crash repairs. The sills are the main rust area. They rust from the inside out. (Especialy the ones with f.f. sunroofs). To check this, open the doors and remove the air vent in the door frame. Get a tourch and look down into the hole. Any rust or dampness will be seen. It's a good idea to blast some waxoil down there to protect it.

As for looks, well it's everyones own opinion. But for best looks, I'd have to say the 944 S2/turbo does it for me. But on the retro front, an early lowered 924 with Fusch or 914 Fusch alloys and a retro paint sceam does it too.

underrated 80's german coupe. a familiar tale! looks great - and yes the 928 winter wheels would look good on that methinks.

Hi the 924s with the same engine as the 944 had 10bhp removed by porsche because it was faster than the new 944 due to the fact that the 924 is lighter. my 924s has had the stolen 10bhp put back. I like the look of the 944 but prefer the lines of the 924
