Hi
This is my Mk1 turbo that i'm restoring.
It has only had two owners from new (both from same family) the previous owner was a lady that has had it from 1986. Her husband was a mechanic/welder/sprayer and has done alot of work on it, including fitting a new 'uprated' gearbox not long before it was put away. It was last on the road in 1997 and has been in a barn in the countryside since. I found it for sale on ebay in july. It was only 30 miles away from me and it was exactly the metro i'd been looking for....a black mg metro, but this one happened to be a turbo model, even better! ;D
This is what it looked like when it arrived at my house:
Then after removing the bodykit, wings and wheels, it looked like this:
^Had a patch welded on it in the past....only a hole at the end of the rear valance, just under the bit where the brown paint is, and its the same on the other side
^Rotten wing that came off it....practised welding on it.
^And thats what it looked like with all (i hope) the rot found.
This week, i removed the rotten front valance, headlamp mounting panels and cross-member panel:
And removed the seats and carpets, to find a completely solid, fully welded up floor! So gave it a paint with some hammerite:
Retro 80's dash :
And all the new panels ready to be put on:
This is my second metro i have, that i bought last year. Its a 1985 mk2 metro 1.3L, Only has 25000 miles.
It was owned by a old man since new, came with loads....and i mean LOADS of service history, he had it serviced/looked at nearly every week. The old man also wrote down in a book (which i now have) Every time he filled it up with petrol, how much he put in it and how much it cost, since 1985!
Thanks for looking ;D
