Hey all made a fresh start on my turbo imp again, still need to sell the porsche if anyones interested please contact me its in the way and I need money for the imp
so here goes been doing the write up on the imp club so Ill wack the lot so far on to here
well since the last time I posted about this car the chassis has found to be very very thin so I abandoned the project till now.
Just a little update firstly, Iv taken everything back out ready to go to good old Jon cedric for the paint to be taken off so we can see what the condition of the bodywork is like as it is obvious that nearly every panel is covered in filler so I want to see what's hiding before cutting out the floor pan.
some pics (not bad for 2 1/2 hours work)
wasnt going to take the engine out tonight but changed my mind finally got it out at 9.30 in the dark
bit poor quality pic
Right heres some quick pics, to just get a basic idea at whats hidding behind the paint we took a grinder to it in different places
as you can see there isnt any filler at the top but at some point in its life its had new arches put on which resulted in a lot of rippling in the panels so all that was done was to fill up to the highest point. You can just see at one point there its about 1/2" to 3/4" thick!
I think this was by the rear arch see how think it is.
In front of the rear wheels is like this the first cut to the left is not very far from the door.
By the front left arch progressivly gets worse as you go down
Where the filler is at the bottom of the wings they have done the same to the doors to make everything the same level!
We reckon that the car has to be twice the weight that it should be!!! so I think we are going to weigh it before and after  Its had the filler on to make it look better than it would without, the metal behind in the middle of each panel is actually ok, which was nice to see, just got to get to it first ;D ;D
Picked up some bits today as well, new left and right lower rear corners and rear chassis legs from one of his scrappers
ITS ALL GO GO GO GO GO!!!!!!
Went to impspeed today picked up
Rear engine mount and ally cover
Fibreglass rear lid
revolutions only 2 for the rear so 8" wide need some for the front now 7" if anyone has any please let me know. got to clean up the right one then some fresh paint in the centres.
and the main buy
both sides of the floor pan
now I need sills next me thinks, anyone got any spare lying around?
taking these bits to Jon as well as both rear corners, the front rad, and rear chassis legs. Hes taken a good amount of paint off now so photos will be up tomorrow night, I think I'm gonna need a new right front wing as its in a bad way  its had such a curse word fix in the past someone went in to hot with a welder and its buckled to death, as are all of them but the right front is the worst (not saveable)
chow for now!
Right went to see it today and drop the bits off I had brought over last week.
how she is now
right rear
left rear
right front
left front
its hard to see from the pics how bad it actually is  as you can see its had all four arches done in the past, shoddy and all the wings are so bent, not just by rubbing your hand over but just looking at it at an angle, what a mess!
its been in a crash at some point in its life and all the left front by the lights is bent in, dinted ect, you can see the main one at the 5 oclock position in relation to the light not good but I did win a new front on ebay which has that piece on (strangely)

Decided to paint the wheel I managed to revive the outer edge on last week.
As I hate painting it was a rush job from start to finish, I love the way everything looks fresh and new with a good paint job but cant stand the waiting and layers involved
so started off with a quick paint strip then mask
then a layer of filler primer after which it had 3 more and in between I used a little room heater to warm up the paint to hury things up
after 4 layers of the yellow I did two (I think :? ) layers of grey
warming again ect
then countless amount of final layers trying to make the finish as smooth as possible  again heating as I went along
then since I couldnt be bothered waiting for the paint to dry I took the masking tape off.
Not a bad finish, could have been a hell lot better but hey its just paint it can be done again if need be.
this only took me about 40 mins (including telling my dog off and getting a beer )
just have to do the 2nd one, might wait till next wednesday tho
