Got the Sceptre half out of the garage today and it cut out... couldn't hear the fuel pump working so I bypassed the relay, still nothing but a sort of clunk from the pump.... gave it tap with a bit of wood, nothing. Took the inlet pipe off, getting a petrol soaked sleeve in the process , plenty of fuel coming out of the tank, along with large bits of paint (usual '60s Rootes problem) but still no go. Looks like the pump's had it I was planning on cleaning the tank out anyway, looks like a trip to the scrappy now for a 'new' pump.....

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

That's a bit of a curse word.
I'm thinking of sticking a modern-style electronic lift pump on the Imp when it's done, more reliable and more powerful than the original I reckon. Then again I might go with one from a rear drive Volvo, they're much bigger and very reliable, if I could get one to fit.

Took the tank out yesterday, pressure washed it out and kept swilling it out with petrol, here's just a small sample of what came out Had a walk down to our local scrappy for a pump, but they hadn't got one..... but there was a nice dark blue MK1 Granada 3.0 Ghia outside, and a not so nice MK5 Cortina estate on it's side, having it engine removed with a Hiab inside.... Went to another scrappy, fished a pump out of a bin full of assorted curse word.... that'll be £20 please only had £17 on me.... the last one I bough was only a tenner!! Got it all back together, up and running again now... and the new spring bushes arrived today
