Right, up for sale's my torch red Corvette C4. It has a mere 49,000 miles on the clock and comes with a substantial history folder (with bills for thousands), Haynes manual and, quite rare, the original leather owner's case and manual.
This is believed to be a UK spec car, i.e. it has the UK rear end on it, full UK light pack and so on. The Corvette is also HPI clear.
It's had a recent MOT (in September) and, to cure a slight idle stumble, has recently had new O2 sensors, a new Optispark distributor and more and as such the car drives beautifully, returning around 28mpg on a run, and 24 on average.
I've also flushed and refilled the coolant system with the correct ratio of fluids, to make sure it's healthy throughout winter. As an additional bonus, there is plenty of tread left on all tyres, having covered only about 3000 miles.
Specification is as follows:
- LT1 300BHP 5.7 litre smallblock
- 4 speed gearbox with selectable overdrive and two-stage kickdown
- Limited slip differential
- 0-60 in 5.5 seconds
- 0-100 in 11.5 seconds
- 1/4 mile in 14 seconds
- Rare FX-3 adjustable electronic suspension (touring/sports/performance modes)
- Vented discs F&R with ABS
- Traction control
- Power steering
- 6-way power sports seats (leather)
- Power windows, power heated mirrors
- Heated rear hatch
- Adjustable steering wheel
- Ice-cold air con
- Cruise control
- Removable targa top
- Bose CD/tape/radio deck
- Manufacturer's alarm/immobiliser
- Gemini aftermarket alarm system
- Remote central locking
- Trip computer with extra readouts (oil temp/pressure/coolant temp/trans temp/average consumption/instantaneous etc)
- Variable wipers
- Two lockable storage boxes
- Two cupholders!
- Under-floor spare wheel
The car is in excellent condition, showing very few signs of it's age (just a few minor stone chips). It drives beautifully, with no issues (even when used daily). It's docile to drive in traffic, handles brilliantly, stops well and accelerates ferociously, pulling to the redline hard - with no overheating, stumbling or anything strange like that. It's a real workhorse and is extremely reliable.
The interior is also in excellent condition and suffers none of the squeaks and rattles associated with the earlier pre-90s C4s. It is also watertight, as I have noticed no leaks, even after leaving the car out for extended periods of time in heavy downpour.
Recently had a new weatherstrip kit too, at a cost of around £500.
The Corvette is also standard, just as it left the factory, so it's extremely refined and flexible. I've used it for long distance touring (very comfortable and relaxing to drive), as well as around town work.
Really is a fantastic bit of kit but unfortunately, I don't associate with it and want to go back to something more period - as such I'd rather it went on to a new owner!
The price? Winter bargain-tastic, I'm looking for offers around an RR-price of £6800 . Considering most sell for 7500 upwards, and the majority of dealers won't sell them for less than 8500, this constitutes an excellent performance bargain - supercar power for Mondeo money! Hell, for that price, you can tool around in it over winter, then sell it in spring for more than you bought it for!
Of course, all documents such as the V5c, MOT and current tax disc, as well as all the other history I have, are present and correct - and I also have a full 2nd set of keys and a spare alarm fob!
Bonus - also has a full tank of fuel
Parts are easily sourced in the UK - but, barring normal services - brake pads and petrol should be your only yearly expenditure - I know people who use these as commuters, racking up 20-30,000 miles a year with no problems at all!
Any questions feel free to ask - you can reach me on lskingston@hotmail.com or oh-782-five-seven-5-1454, or just post here.
Viewings etc are welcome
I'd also consider part exchanges.......Maybe something pre '80s (and preferably V8s!)
I'll get some better photos when I can!
