OK - so you've got to start a Retro Rides minicab fleet...
What cars do you cjhoose, and why?
Here are some of my suggestions:
Toyota Century for those evening theatre jobs
Nissan 300C estate for airport runs
Granada Mark 1/Zodiac Mark 4 for everyday cabbing
Citroen CX estate for big loads
Fiat Mulitipla (original '50s one) for carrying a few small people!
Transit Mark 1 (with V6 of course) for stag night/hen dos
Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 for urgent jobs....
There ya go.... any more ideas?

For the real deal minicab inner city type firm, with its brown interiored £200 at scrap yard cars that reek of smoke and cheap aftershave, id have to say: Hyundai Stellar Ford Cortina mk4/5 Ford Orion mk1 Volvo 240 (with peeling silver paint)

Volvo 2, 7 and 9 series saloons, Hillman Hunter, (big comfy, and space for a walloping big modern engine in the front no doubt! ) Granadas, mk 1 and two, Volga M21 (not only well cool, but a very good taxi, used all over the former USSR and also in parts of Belgium and other European countries as taxis) And for a bit of an unusual choice, what about the Austin FL2? It was basically an FX4 designed for the private hire/private car market, so it didn't have the taxi sign, and the interior was more car like, with a standard passenger seat and slightly upgraded dash and the like. Dead roomy, interesting, reliable, and absolutely legal to use as a minicab as it isn't actually an FX4, so it isn't classes as a hackney cab.

My Minicab fleet would go something like this: Sierra Cossie, 2wd running 350bhp. To transport the punters sideways. Race tuned Jag Mk2 3.8 with chrome wires, with me the driver dressed the same as the bloke out of 'gangster no.1' (60's based london mob film), but with leather driving gloves. I wouldn't taxi people around in this, I'd rob banks! MG ZT 260, not the usual retro, but drive one and it feels like an animal, no easy gear change, heavy clutch, this things a brute! The Sweeny Granada V70 T5 for those trips to Gatwick

True. Estelles are cool as well though! I think they don't let two door taxis into service because of access problems to the back seats, that and some countries have them banned because of the ability to kidnap people using two door taxis, Mexico for example. Up until a few years ago, a lot of the taxis in Mexico were VW Beetles, (classic ones, not the new style) most of which were brand new, locally made ones but exactly the same as the latest 1970s ones to come out of Wolfsburg. But lately they've been banned, as people were able to get hold of a Beetle, dress it up as a taxi, and kidnap passengers using it, kidnap is apparently very common in Mexico, and the passenger would have trouble escaping because they'd be in the back of a 2 door car, so wouldn't be able to get a door open and jump out, so anyway now 2 door taxis are being phased out in Mexico apparently.
