can't. access. ebay... What's the spec / deal / price ? Piccies would be cool also... Cheers - Rob Copied direct off ebay Hi people, Let me first state that this is not a genuine E28 M5. It is an E28 528i which has had an M5 (M88) engine transplanted into it, along with the gearbox and rear diff. I do not want to mislead anyone in any way! I bought this car about 3 months ago to replace my M535i. Since then, I have done a large amount of work to it, which I will detail below. However, despite having sunk some considerable money and effort into it, I feel like a change. I've owned E28 BMW's for over two years and feel the time is right to move on and try other things! However, if the car doesn't sell, I'll probably plod on with it. So, the car. As said its a 1987 E28 which (around 5 years ago) had the engine swapped for that from an E24 M635Csi. This engine is more or less identical to that in the Euro spec E28 M5. The work was carried out by Fritz's Bits, a BMW specialist based in Somerset. At the time the timing chain was also replaced, along with the head gasket. Its done around 20,000 miles since then. The engine doesn't overheat or have excessive oil consumption. I had it rolling roaded yesterday at DS Automotive in Aylesbury and it managed 275bhp, which is only 11bhp down on the (optimistic) book figure. I've had a fair bit of work done to the car in the time that I've owned it. For the MOT the car had the following work - * New fuel tank * New brake pipes * 2 new rear tyres (Kumho) * New drop links * Welding repairs to the following - Offside front floor, offside rear sill, nearside front sill. The car has had a new clutch, a rolling road tune up and an oil service, all within the last month. The suspension is Bilstein, stiff but not too uncomfortable and the car has uprated brakes all round, a combination of E38 and E31 parts and an E39 master cylinder. The exhaust system is stainless steel (manifold back) and worth around £1200 including the manifold! In addition, the car has an LPG kit fitted by the previous owner. I only use the system when cruising on long distances, but it seems to work fine and has presented no issues. If I was keeping the car, I'd probably remove it as its adding weight and this isn't much of a cruiser anyway! The car is all solid now and structurally sound. The mechanical condition is good. The only major remaining issue is the body work, which is a little shabby in places and needs respraying ideally. There are various nicks and scabs to the shell, which is to be expected after 20 years and 180000 miles! The worst parts are the rear arches, however none of the body is beyond saving. I've had quotes of around £1000 to do the work (Finishline in Stevenage). The interior is red leather from an E24 Six series and is generally in good condition and nicely aged. Theres a couple of marks & tears in it, but its nice. Also, the electric windows only work when the doors are open. Apparently this is common on E28s & E30s and my local auto electrician informs me that its usually a relay somewhere causing a problem. I know I've had the car 3 months, but I've been using it more or less daily in that time and its managed an easy 3000 miles. Its never left me stranded and hasn't really given me a moment's hassle. I'm not trying to rip anyone off, I genuinely just fancy a change of motoring scenery! I've uploaded some photos from my mobile and I'll get some better ones up tomorrow or Tuesday, including the bad bits. I've got 100% good feedback and have sold many items on eBay, including cars, in the past. I don't like to muck people about and expect the same in return. You're welcome to view the car, but test drives will only be allowed if you have adequate insurance cover. If not, I'm happy to take you out in it. I've set a reasonable reserve, bearing in mind the car is not a genuine M5, but the engine alone is worth in excess of £2000! Its a lot of car for someone and would make an awesome drift tool or track toy. ;D ;D ;D

This is Bryn's old car. I bought it off him at the start of summer. I'm open to offers on the car by the way, but as said if it doesn't sell I'll just carry on tidying the bodywork. I just fancy a change, hence why my 205 is for sale as well.

Right, I've relisted it again as I'm about to buy another car next week and have had to borrow the money from my parents to complete the deal! I want to pay them back ASAP, so I've slashed the reserve on this, its at an absolute give away price now. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330178865829

Whoa... Glad you had a chance to have some fun with it bud. If I hadn't bought myself a world of rust in America I'd be tempted myself. But the usual 'ifs' don't help here. By way of recommendation if you're reading this and are tempted, I had some of my best miles ever in this thing. It's also the reason why I got out of fast cars, because I'd have to go a long way and deep into my pocket to have as much fun. I ain't got that much money and my driving skillzors ain't up to more... It just about kept up with a Ferrari 355 spider on the A303 once, it really is that good. Plus I was all set to lose my license... again PS Don't know if you saw my answer in the USHEy thread, but if you wanted any pics hi-res just shout me and let me know what you want.
