In the title guys
Obviously the 126 i was looking at before is fairly cheap
Beetles suffer from scene tax. How much for a good one?
Any reccomendations welcome.

My grand father sold a 411 that he was given for 200 quid, but that was 4 years ago now, would kill for it now, what are they worth?

dyanes used to knock about for the £60 - £100 mark years ago as people didnt deem them as fashionable as a 2cv, the same with amis and aircooled visas. Now of course, they are a lot more, the same could be said like already mentioned, of the vw 411 and 412 as they were big ole barges and not as cool as a beetle. Only the squarebacks held on to their prices better as it would be a cheap estate for taking the dogs to the park in. Nowadays, i guess only the beaten up 2cv dolly or cheap charleston would qualify as well as the 126 if you could find one?

yeah but 411's are a proper nice drive.
and i would say their looks are an aquired taste ;D

tatra V8 OK so not the cheapest air cooled engine, but the coolest by a mile. And yes dyanes or 2CV's 'cos I'm biased And if you want a cheap Dyane, see Dollywobbler of this parish. |

I'm not sure about VW 411's being scene-tax exempt. OK they aren't as taxed as a squareback but I still think they command a higher price than the equivalent Datsun / Renault / etc. But yeah... cheap aircooleds... gotta be a Citroen 2CV. But I like stinkwheel's idea better, a/c V8 FTW!  |

What will a sound 2cv cost?
Do i go 126 route or 2cv,
2cv has loads of back up i assume.

WOW that is immense!! and local too.
Whats the clutch like to do?
Annoyingly it looks pratical, so work will get me carrying stuff, but my god i don't care!!!

Isn't a clutch an "engine out" job on those? Not that I would see that being particularly fraught.
Quite fancy it myself.

Prob is clutch out. It is on 2CVs. Not like engine out on a modern though!
My vote for cheapest aircooled is a Zaphorozets! If you can find one.
EDIT - or twin cylinder DAFs (33 and 44). They seemingly have no value at all which is a shame!
