More pointless and pathetic "journalism" then. Do they not get sick of making these things up?

Some of the choices are a bit unusual, like the 'Russo-Baltique Type C', some are justified (Marcos Mantis for one) and it's good to see the writer has picked on some modern targets. However I'd quite happily own many of them, especially an Avanti, they're gorgeous!

It all seems a bit lazy given half of them are made up by concept cars. I also think they're getting dated confused with ugly. I'd say the Volvo 262C looks dated but not ugly. The new Toyota Auris makes me loose the will to live every time I see it but it's not ugly. For me the 2 manufactures who've lost the plot the most in the last couple of years is Subaru and Peugeot. The Impreza's no oil painting, the tribeca is beyond words and the new foresters supposed to be awful. Peugeot seem to be making a variety of whale mouthed monsters with really weird lines. I've started to obsess about the Peugeot 308 and it's strange lines. It's worrying as I've even made a small diagram. Could just be me though.

Peugeot seem to have reacted more than any other manufacturer to the EU pedestrian protection laws. They mandate a certain bonnet height, certain distance from bonnet to the top of the engine to give crush zones, etc. Peugeot's way of dealing with it seems to be to design one front-end and then fit it to all their cars, regardless of how it flows into the rest of it. Their recent "CC" efforts look particularily misproportioned.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

cort, you're not the only one. I've been very confused by the latest range of Peugeots - how could they go from making stunners like the 406 Coupe and 306 Cabrio to churning out automotive gargoyles like that? Yeurgh!

"1979 - 1986 Cadillac Seville: [yada yada yada] , its 5.7-litre engine only had 105bhp." I thought this seemed wrong so poked about a bit - it's true but the engine in question was a 5.7l V8 diesel. That said the 6.0 petrol only had 145bhp... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_Seville

cort, you're not the only one. I've been very confused by the latest range of Peugeots - how could they go from making stunners like the 406 Coupe and 306 Cabrio to churning out automotive gargoyles like that? Yeurgh! In the mid to late 90's Peugeot made some great looking cars. I had a 406 Coupe and it's the best looking car I've owned. I remember when the 306 came out (I am old) and it was striking compared to the escorts and astras of the day. The 307/206 weren't too bad looking but the 207 and 308 are monsters. On the other hand Citroen are producing some lovely cars after years of producing pillows with wheels. The C4 is a nice car as a coupe, the C6 is a future classic and the new C5 is a nice. Lots of details like concave back window etc. It's in the detail.

The thing that baffles me on the 308 is that front wheelarch line. What the hell was the designer thinking when he decided that the wheel arch should be bigger at the front than the back.
