How cool is that!? Good basis for a sleeper there, leave all the chinese badging and numberplates on for good effect (just stick the British ones somewhere else) and just do something about the horrific mish-mash of engine and running gear components. I'd leave it running six stud wheels though, that's oddly cool, either band those ones or find off roader or light commerical wheels of the right stud pattern that are a bit wider and still subtle. Wonder what the build quality's like?

Amazing! I have a bizarre attraction to these Chinese-built 80's and 90's European cars. I did a bit of Googling... apparently the factory was a right shoddy operation, and the end result reflects that! There's an interesting write-up here with reference to the Longbridge-built prototype. Can't find any detailed information on what running gear they had.

What a monstrosity. Extreme coolness though. don't they have maestros with montego front ends over there too? (monstos?)
Maybe body parts from one of these could be used to help restore a "real" ital over here?

A644 WUK was owned by the Secretary of the Marina Owners Club and I saw it at Belvoir Castle a few years ago. I think he still has it (but is no longer Sec of the Club).... I've got the full list of gen on it somewhere, its a right mash-up.

Maybe body parts from one of these could be used to help restore a "real" ital over here? Funnily enough on my little Google adventure looking for Chinese Itals, I read that Rimming Bros recently bought up a load of body panels for SD1's when the Indian "Standard" factory closed. This sort of thing is good for keeping new parts for old cars in circulation! I reckon as soon as India, China etc stop building our cast-offs and only produce their own new designs (as is already happening), all that tooling and all those surplus parts for old BL tin, VW's etc., will be coming back Europe.
