My neighbour used to have these two on his drive He was a great chap to have a shared drive with as he didn't care that I kept dismantling dead Sierras on it unfortunately he died of a brain tumour a few years ago One of my Sierras, this one actually made it back on the road and is the car I have the most found memories of most unreliable car I have ever owned as well (I went through 1 engine, 2 gearboxes, 1 propshaft and quite a lot of other bits) It got left alone mechanically apart from polly bushes, I constantly tinkered with the interior though Ran it for a year, took it off the road to properly sort out the rust and found it was much worse than I thought so eventually scrapped it. Replaced it with this - Did not have the same grin factor but got close due to this Eventually it failed an MOT, got parked in my front flower bed for a couple of years and then was broken making me twice what I paid for it. This is the sort of thread I post when I have insomnia the night before I start a new job so sorry for the rambling randomness of it ;D

The Sierra looked great from a couple of metres away close up was a different story but then I did buy it as a £100 pile of spare parts to repair a different Sierra which I had somehow managed to buy without noticing the VIN plates had been removed oops, so it got fixed instead of broken I had fun declaring all the mods to Direct Line, got a very confused girl in a call center - modified bodykit, retro fitted aircon, retro fitted electric sunroof, dash made up from 3 different later Sierras, doors modified to take speakers, electric heated leather seats from a Granny - apparently these did not fit in options she had on her computer screen ;D she could cope with the alloys ;D

Certainly the car with the most road presence I have ever owned still got all the bodykit off her so oneday I may have another like her Pray tell of this new job, interesting? Direct sales - do you need new windows? ;D perhaps not were I was looking to go with my life but it pays well if you can do it, got to be better than selling gas and electricity door to door which is what I was last doing anyway

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Welcome. Still got a Sierra or owt at the moment? Yep 1.8 Sierra Chasseur Poor picture taken in the dark when I got it home, really need sort out some better shots of it. I like Sierras ;D cheap (well they used to be) RWD or 4x4 and relatively easy to work on at home. I also have a pile of bits waiting for me to find a cheap MK1 to play with ;D

Lovely, I sold My Chasseur, Sapph the same colour, last year, best car I ever had, for cleaness and reliability, and newness, with retro twist. Nowt like the CVH dissing horror stories, no problem, lovely reliable steed.

Cool pics! You were lucky to live next door to a fella like your late neighbour, he sounded a good bloke I really like your old Sierra too, XR4x4's are great cars, and black is my favourite colour for 80's Fords The silver 1.8 looks in nice condition too, are you planning to mod it?

Nowt like the CVH dissing horror stories, no problem, lovely reliable steed. Third 1.8 CVH I have run it will never set the tarmac alight but it is a good workhorse engine. It is not doing to badly at the moment, the auto choke has packed up though. The water pump did seize taking the cam belt with it in the first couple of weeks that I had it

He was great course he liked the fact that I didn't mind him dismantling his bikes on the drive ;D he was a sprayer by trade, the bikes all had interesting custom paint jobs no pictures unfortunately The 1.8 has managed 6 months without me doing anything other than standard maintenance got a full set of Granny leather in the garage that is waiting for the project to start but may end up going in this one
