US Automotive were pretty good at finding a big old list of complicated stuff (including door glass) I asked for for my 1975 Blazer, might be worth giving them a shot? www.usautomotive.co.uk IIRC

Dez, there are several people locally that get stuff shipped over from the States fairly regularly and they get it come into Felixstowe. Might be worth having a word with them if you're thinking about it.

thanks for all the PMs with names of importers people. i plan to exhaust all possible avenues within the uk before going to the importers, less chance of one getting broken in transit then.

Believe it or not my local AutoGlass claimed to be able to get a windscreen for a 1968 Plymouth Fury...
There is a specialist supplier of American car glass and he's called Peter something or another, also does mobile fitting. He advertises in Custom Car, Classic American, etc. If you can't find it I'll look out his ad for you.
He quoted me £450 for the screen in the Plymouth, supply only.
Sometimes there are subtle differences between models evenon the same Fisher body so make sure you say what its for when you order it not say its for an Impala cos it mightsave time explaining.
