My mate want to convert his new Pao from auto to manual.
Is it as simple as sourcing a 5-speed box, pedals and linkage from a Mk1 Micra?
Tips please, oh wise Japanese gurus...

that would work too trouble is all figaros were auto too and I'm not sure the standard k10 manual box would be up to all that extra power (75bhp )

Ha, cool, thought it might be. He's a great bloke.
I've just put the feelers out on this one, hopefully should get an answer about the conversion a bit later.

i reckon the micra box would hold the turbo power ok but sourcing one is a different matter them figaros seem to command very high prices

Try speaking to the folks at www.garage-d.net. They do a lot of conversions for S-body Nissans, Skylines, Laurels etc. Hope that's of some use.

yup a k10 box will bolt on directly as the pao is fitted with the MA10 engine which is identical to the k10 micra. however he will need the carb from a manual k10 also as the auto carb is different need any more info feel free to send me a PM

I think the plan is to find a reasonably low mileage 5-speed Micra for not much money and swap as much as possbile across.

I think the plan is to find a reasonably low mileage 5-speed Micra for not much money and swap as much as possbile across. The Pao has quite a few differences in a subtle way to the K10, distributor, exhaust, carb. The easiest swap is to do everything, gearbox, engine and all the auxilliary bits including the exhaust. But remember the Pao has power steering and aircon so you going to need to swap a few bits from the old engine.
