I have just tried to move the S10 private plate onto retention and then want it on the Astro. DVLA Response below. What now?  |

Either chat to then or fill out the relevant form they point to. Not all services work online sadly. I can’t tax my Dodge online. Works fine in the post office though.

Did you web chat with them? If not try again and see what they say. If they won't tell you why send it off and don't forget the payment. Ask them what is the average time for a response.

Happened to me recently - it was because the car had been untaxed for a period of 120 days in the last 5 years.
Spoke to them and sent a postal application in - plate was then transferred (took about 10 days)

Tried the chat, got to a point, it said an agent would be with me……. Over an hour later it is 7.00pm and of course all gone dead. Also tried to call them…… AUTOMATED MESSAGE: High volume, can’t help, Bye. |

I tried to first retain/remove GRZ733 for the S10 and thats where I became unstuck, as that was the process as I understood it. Not sure if one can move it directly (Assign) from the S10 to the Astro. |

The S10 was just parked up at one point, I have had it 3 years at Christmas. I looked the the Astro MOT History, and there are about 6 years missing too. BUT….. One cannot see the full histories. |

If you do the postal application you will be able to transfer it to the Astro, V317 form really easy to fill in and complete. Hardest bit was paying £90 for an £80 postal order! |

You should be able to move it directly from one vehicle to the other. No need to put it on retention.
