I'm trying to find punches with same font as used by Yamaha in the 70s All the set I see seem to have the wrong 3, 7, 6 & 9 so even if you have odd ones it would be fine. Don't really need a full set The 7 shouldn't have any curve on the downwards bit. The 3s need to be curly at top and bottom and the 6/9 can't have a tight curl on the tail. Needs to be a gentle curve. Hopefully these pics will show what I mean

In all honesty I would just stamp it up with what you have and be prepared to explain why it was necessary, doing them well is an art that takes a lot of practise to make them look anything like. If you look at the number of British bikes that are matching numbers when they never were to begin with.

Bump. Still looking for these. It's actually 6mm ones I need and the Clarke ET145 and ET146 sets looks very similar to what I need. However library pics of these are a bit vague and fonts could change over the years so am reluctant to buy new ones. In other news I found a company who can make exact replicas I sent them my details and they said 'no probs. that'll be £65 per stamp plus £50 design-fee and you need to pay up-front' So for the 7 stamps I need it would be at least £505 my machine (V5 held) has very faint frame number due to wear/corrosion

Unless it's something incrediably valuable (in which case don't stamp it yourself it'll make a mess) I would just leave it, take plenty photos before you paint the frame. With the photos nobody is going to be to bothered, some numbers do go like that, I've got a TY125 that's the same.

Thanks dodgeroverI got a set of the Clarke ones I was talking about and had a very quick practice on a spare swing-arm I have (smaller diameter tube than headstock so not going to look the same) and am quite pleased with the similarity of the font. It's only really the letter C in my number that is not visible. You can actually see it in pics but not looking at it. The S is also very faint.

At the risk of sounding like I know too much. Have another practise, put several strips of masking tape along the bottom so you have something to rest the stamp on. Unless it's something Spanish then crooked, double stamped or misaligned letters are a dead give away it's been stamped up. Several light taps is better than one heavy blow, you may need to reposition the stamp slightly to get the full letter on the tube without going mega deep in the centre.
Spanish bikes are done deliberately like that as a rubbing copy of the way the frame number is stamped forms part of the bikes official paperwork.
