It seems that Oulton Park / MSV are changing things up a bit this year, as well as the usual Saturday track action they're trying to tie-in various static displays now too. I approve of course, all the more to look at, although the admission prices seem to have gone up too. Still, I've been going for as many weekends as I have been able to since I was 14 (which was, ooh, err, 1987 I think) and I'm not planning on stopping any time soon. Anyway, last weekend was Autos De France day, which featured some great 2CV endurance racing on track along with a Saxo cup race or two. I haven't even begun to sort through the 1300+ photos I took of the racing (the rapid fire shutter on my Canon always means I've got three or four shots of each car as they come through and sometimes they are even in focus!) but here's some of the static French car display. Hopefully this'll get bigger in years to come, a full sized baguette rather than a petit fromage dans la valise or whatever. I don't speak French. Mercy bucket. I loved this, it's not often I get to see one. The kick plate on the rear wing is a lovely detail. Super clean 205XS. Why can't modern superminis be this pretty? Many years ago I worked for a fella that had an XM Estate. It was a bizarre and fabulous thing, this brought back some memories.

Nicole? Off the top of my head I can think of the whereabouts of four of these within a ten minute walk in various directions from my house. Two owned by one person, the rest by others. I'm surrounded by them! Got a real thing for Twingos lately, I keep looking at them on Autoscout.fr. They can't stay cheap forever!

All of the yes. All of it. 21 Turbos! But there are only two in the photo!? You know what I mean. I didn't investigate but this looks as though it's packing a punch.

11 Turbo. Where did all the 9s go? Serck plates suit this 21 perfectly. Crisp lines. These have always looked so good.

Supercool van. Didn't look to see if it has the Giraffe hatch at the back, I hope it does. They were everywhere, then they weren't. They were invisible cars, now they stand out when you see one. Cheeky 5. Having spent relative £££ on some Gtechniq C4 Trim Restorer recently to do all the black trim on my Golf I dread to think how much you'd need to give these bumpers a good coating.

I love these so much. I think the most terrifying drive of my life was bringing one of these down from the Lake District one Autumn years ago in some very strong crosswinds. Hopefully the owner of this one makes happier memories in it. French blues.

I never really understood the appeal of these until I spent about half an hour just staring at one parked across the road from me a few years ago. Now I do. C'est magnifiqueOf course the CX isn't bad either. A rare car where the facelift actually fits with the intent of the original and enhances the lines.

Three seats, always wondered just how comfy you'd be in the middle one Future classic, or are they there already? Another candidate for a good plastic trim restoration. Final photo. 306s are great looking cars, the estate is no exception!

I had an early Kangoo van for a few years, I really liked it. I think they're probably kind of similar. I'd have one in that Gulf blue (like my Kangoo was) and put Cibie Marchal and Elf stickers on it. Maybe lower it, maybe wider steel wheels. Tres Good!

That Citroen ID19 is nice, nicer even than its close relwtive the DS to my elderly eye. If memory serves the ID19 was even made in the UK at one time (I think the Slough built models had a Citreon badge on the bonnet tomp differentiate them.)

Yeah one like this. Only not like this. An early one with the unpainted bumpers and orange indicators below the headlamps. Lower. Wheels. A few French motorsport related stickers. Instant win. Well, not instant, they don't lower themselves and I'm sure there'd be a bit of swearing and hammering but that's all part of the fun.

Some interesting nostalgia pics there. My dad had an identical r4f2 van, same colour, different wheels though, but his did have the giraffe flap. Replaced by a phase 1 extra van in same colour, also with giraffe flap.
Seriously considered an r21 turbo that I looked at many years ago. The girl that lived at the pub opposite my house dad had one. Gave us a lift home from school in it after an exam. It went well so always had a liking for them.
Also had an r11 turbo on my list of cars to buy (it was either that or a 309gti) but ended up with an xr4x4 instead at the time.
