Going to pick up a Granada on Sunday, for mucho cheapiness.
Details seem sketchy though......
it's a 2.9 efi (ok thats fine) Manual ? RWD , so is that likely to be an MT75 gearbox?
thought those only came with the 4x4 ?
or were there rwd with the MT75?
also he thinks it has an lsd. any distiguishing features exterior appearance wise to confirm this?
and it has RS alloys on it, but he's putting steels back on it.
am I looking at a standard car here or a mix of bits?
I'm getting it anyway as it is, as stated above mucho cheapo
just don't know enough about fords so was hoping you guys could shed some light.
Cheers

all possible from the option list, but more likely to be a bitsa, and more likely to have had a type 9 gearbox dropped into it.
grandads are cheap even if they are minty fresh so don't pay loads for it.

They did do a manual 2.9 from the factory but they are mega rare! I think they are a tad stronger than the 2.8 box but cant be too sure. It shouldn't be an MT75 either.

easy way to tell, where is reverse?
T9 = next to first MT75 = below fifth
|
|
To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

Oops getting mixed up here. 2.9 is MT75 and 2.8 is type 9 and i think the 2.8 is stronger.

mt75 will hold about twice as much torque as the type 9 box, and its lighter (don't forget in its 4x4 version it was used in the sierra cossie) trouble is the bellhousing is not removable and the V6 version is very rare in this country, easily available in germany though where you could order 2.9 rwd sierras as well as grandads or hybrids can be built up by several companies from the V6 4x4 front half combined with the 4 pot rwd rear half as its the most popular box to stick behind the 24v (see my sig, mines gemran though not a hybrid, although they end up looking the same)
either way its not very likely your granny will have one, more likely to have had a capri, 2.8 granny or xr4i box dropped into it with a cossie granny or seirra xr4x4 rear beam if it does have lsd.

£100 sounds about right, they only make scrap value, last two 24v's i bought were £200 and £600 but the expensive one already had the proper mt75 manual box conversion and was a really nice car with 17" rims, plenty of tax and test etc.

Picked it up yesterday, and it was indeed a MK3 Ford Granny , Ghia X , RS bodykit, RS alloys(left on), 2.9 efi V6 , Manual Gearbox, looks like it came that way from the factory ,but until I've had a closer look I won't know for sure.
It fired first time, settled down to idle quickly and was quiet as anything.
Only problems are smashed rear screen (don't need that anyway) and a hole in rear bumper and a small dent on the passenger door. engine and box work well so thats all I need really.......
chuffed!
how much are granny bits worth,
Got front fogs rs front bumper rs side skirts rs alloys, no centre caps Bonnet doors glass electric windows and a few other bits
if nothing I'll just weigh it in.

rs bits will be worth sticking on ebay, rest of it isnt worth much if anything, having said that, if it did come from the factory like that its actually a fairly rare beast, id get over to www.granada-and-scorpio-online.com/ and see if it generates a quick profit rather than break it up, 2.9 12v's are so cheap you could buy an engine and box and still have plenty of money left over. i broke a 2.8i ghia S up years ago cos it had good bits in it, including an lsd and a manual box, they are all gone now, turns out it was one of the rarest models. :S
