Have i been sent the wrong alternator brushes?

Do they not fit? They don't look much different other than the extra little tab but that could be cut off.

With the spring being longer brush protruded all the way through the housing. I have since refitted it and pushed it in from the other side. It is now within the square housing

Apart from that they fit so i installed them in the alternator

The reason i changed them was because the ammeter was doing this along with the ignition light



It's now doing this. Different but not much better

I think if you were to put a voltmeter on the battery terminals it’ll show the voltage is going high not low.

This will be because either the regulator is shot or because the regulator can’t “see” the system voltage. I’d first check all connections externally to the alternator and also all internal connections to the regulator itself. The fact that the behaviour has changed suggests you may have disturbed the culprit in your last works….
