For my 1000th post (It's taken 11 years!) I'm going to take advantage of the new rule of post 2000 cars and put a picture of my Bullitt on here! I wanted an 2008 Bullitt when they came out but as A) they didn't sell them here and B) I couldn't have afforded one anyway even if they did, that never happened. Fast forward to now and I spotted this car about 18 months ago at a ford dealer with 56,000 miles on it. The mileage had made the price just within my reach and so I took the plunge. To be honest although I do love the idea and coolness of it I don't actually love driving it, it's a beast but I just haven't clicked with it. First world problems eh.

Lovely looking thing though. To me these look like what an 80’s Aston Martin v8 would look like in the modern day.

I'm not really sure to be honest probably a combination of things, it is a big car but feels cramped inside to me, I can't seem to find a driving position i like, the seats are Recaros as standard but aren't that comfortable, in the states you could have the standard seat which came heated and cooled and looked like the movie car seats more. The exhaust is stock but a switchable system and sounds epic, Ford tuned it to sound like the 68 in the movie (which was apparently the sound of a GT40 dubbed over I believe) I probably should sell it but I'd lose to much money at the moment, I'm hoping if I put it away eventually it'll pick up in value like all fast Fords. I can get access to it easily if I want to take it out for a drive and I need my garage space as I've seen a delicious Volvo 460 that I want!

I had a 2009 Mustang and was distinctly underwhelmed. It belonged to a friends Wife and I had always admired its butch retroness (new word, (c) 2023 BritBrick Industries) so when it came up for sale I snapped it up.
But once I got my hands on it the admiration quickly evaporated. Unsupportive seats for a gent my size (6'4" and 20 stones) which played hell with my knackered hip, poor fit and finish particularly on the interior, and insufficient performance when one considered the amount of fuel it chewed.
I advertised it for sale and while still clutching a handful of fifties I spied an ad on a stang website for a newly imported Saleen, the full fat 485 pony version. I immediately forgot the newly learned lessons and bought it. Still with that woeful Ford fit and finish, but the seats were better and the cars performance character was transformed in every single way. At last there was some compensation by way of performance, handling and brakes for the amount of fuel it supped, and the seats were much more supportive.
Sadly a few wmonths later Mrs BritBrick fell very seriously ill, literally overnight, and as a consequence could no longer work. I had a lot of cash tied up in the Saleen and it wasn't the cheapest thing to run so I sold it and bought a Peugeot 3008 of all things (although to be fair it was much better built!)
Not driven the current generation but Ford have certainly got the styling bang on. Retro yet not too contrived, and quite svelte. I'd be happy with one just for the looks alone, real eye candy to me.

I like & dislike this thread after reading you guys opinions on the Ford Apart from the 69 Boss, Any 5th gen V8 would satisfy an immense urge to own one. I doubt it would ever happen especially with the economy stuffed up again and just like BritBrick, lifes priorities have to take their rightful position over a lusted car which could be very disappointing to drive after all.

Plenty of people rave about them and the S550 was highly praised for it's handling when it was released. It's a great sports car but just one I don't seem to get along with. Perhaps it's a don't meet your heros scenario. To clarify I have just bought a 1991 Volvo 460 auto for £2500. I enjoyed driving that home more, so maybe it's just me 😂

Ah, the Volvo 460. The vehicle that has given me possibly the biggest fright, followed by the most relief of any vehicle.
I borrowed my parents, a white 1990 460GLE, to go to work. I was late, and making progress. I looked out my side window to see a police cavalier turbo 4x4 sitting next to me on a dual carriageway. I looked at the speedo and it was in triple figures. I thought that was going to be loss of license, bang to rights.
Now, whether it was because the car I was in looked a little like an unmarked police car, or the fact my work uniform looked very much like a fire officers uniform might have gone some way to saving my Aristotle. The officer in the cav just looked at me and gestured with his left hand to ease off the loud pedal and just cruised past me leaving my license intact.

During a short trip in Québec I drove a 2015 V6 convertible Mustang (auto gearbox), and really loved it. It felt like a nice modern car, looked awesome and was very relaxing to drive. Lazy, comfy, and the absence of a roof does make it more spacious inside. I suspect the non-Shelby versions are more cohesive when seen as a laidback cruiser! The Bullitt does look great and that green is to die for.

One of my friends is very senior within Ford and has the last Bullitt Mustang off the line - perk of the job! I had a little go in it last year, quite liked it but the GT350 he had before was a much nicer car in my opinion. Some cars you get on with, some you don’t. Looks lovely thought! P.

Well writing it all down in this thread spurred me on to sell the car, it went yesterday, with rather fortunate timing as it happens as I've just managed to put a deposit down on one of the new batch of GR86 Toyota have just announced. One door closes another one opens....

I've never even sat in one I know if I don't like I will be able to sell it for at least what I paid for it or looking at the market at the moment more. I missed out on the first allocation so I cannot pass this opportunity up. On paper it seems like my perfect sports car, lightweight, small and not too much unusable power. Any quirks you've discovered in your 9 months? Any signs of engine troubles in Europe? I've noted a number of cases of engine failure in the states. I'll be taking advantage of the Toyota/Lexus 10 year relax warranty we have here in the UK.

You can check out the Speedster thread from Page 14 onwards and you'll get my in-depth feedback on the 86 and the small modifications I've done so far.
I'll give you a few of the quirks I don't / didn't like in any case.
I didn't like the clutch pedal consistency so I swapped out the spring for an MTEC one. Heavier clutch but it's consistent now and I like it. There is also a little rev hang. I'm 100% sure it's programmed in for maximum attack mode as when you are really on it then it's perfect. I think it's some help for those that can't heel and toe.
If you drive it immediately on cold start up then it keeps a high idle for a minute or two and is very jumpy as a result.
The trailing edge of the bonnet gets very wavy above 145 kph / 90 mph.
Small things really and I've addressed some of them already.

I've gathered a group of 19 guys here in CH that have the GR86. That's 10% of the total in the country. There have been no issues reported regarding the engine.
The same on 86.org. No engine problems in Europe yet.
The 10 year warranty is indeed a great bonus.
