Whilst looking through the fulfilling the need thread it became apparent thst I maybe lagging behind in the number stakes somewhat, with several members number of owned cars stretching into the hundreds.
Upon review, my own record stands at a somewhat pitiful 16 cars (or vans) spread across nearly thirty years of driving and that includes all projects and dailys.
There were some low points, especially my ver first car bought unseen at age 16 from a friend of my dads who assured me that the unknown to me Austin Allegto was "practically a mini" and also yellow.
It sat outside the house with me comming snd going for five days, only seeing it under the yellow glow of post war street lighting.
Imagine my shock at finding one of these in the Saturday morning daylight
Not quite what I had in mind.
My first project and my first daily.
I owned this for nearly four years and drove it for two before upgrading to what is still the largest engined vehicle I've ever owned.
Another borrowed image but close enough.
All 1.8 litres of pinto eventually had 2.5di power.
How I ever filled that thing up on a weekly wage of £29.50 i'll never know but it went everywhere and became everything, from Mountain bike hauler to hotel for six.
I was very popular for a few years.
Despite this dubious start I'd like to offer this in defence
1, I have never collected or hoarded non runners or un-roadworthy projects. I don't see anything wrong with this for those who like to but I'd rather all my resources went in the same place.
2, I have only two unfinished projects to my name and one of those is currently under active restoration and is really penance for the other.
It wasn't all boring though, these are some of the rebuilds
Ashley midget went to France
Lightspeed magenta went to the usa
And my sj410 went everywhere
So do I have the lowest car to year ratio on here?
