After just a few minuets running, my engine dies as the contact breaker points have got so hot, that the plastic heel that rubs on the dizzy shaft has melted, and the gap on the points has gone. The points a literally too hot to touch. I have tried replacing the points, condenser, coil, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Is the top of the dizzy lubed where the plastic heel makes contact?
Maybe the shaft is seizing up and causing excess heat?

I doubt it’s friction causing that much heat, sounds to me like a short circuit is making the points and the wire they’re on heat up and the plastic part isn’t designed for that temperature.
I’d check for shorts and the voltage the alternator is charging at- if the alternator is suspect try disconnecting it and starting the car and see if the fault remains (the car will run for some time on just the battery voltage, long enough for you to see if the fault is there)

Is it a ballast resistor system but missing the balast resistor? Is the coil the correct voltage?
You could try disconnecting the points and the coil then with a multimeter measure the resistance of the cable with respect to ground. It should be open circuit. If it isn't you have a short to ground in the wiring somewhere.
Or you could disconnect the existing wiring from the points and coil and run a temporary cable in its place and see if the problem is still there.
