We have all probbaly been here, seen a car sitting in a garden, yard or garage and the owner when approached has said those words we all hate to hear: "I'm going to retore it one day"
I have been on both ends of this story, ive approached people to ask if a car is forsale, and i have been approached about cars i have, and i have uttered those words to looks of diaspointment and disbelief.
Anyway, that "one day" has arrived, and after 13 years of ownership, the last 10 of which have been pakred up, i have exhumed my 1988 XR2 and it is now ready for an MOT this week.
I had it stored in a polytunnel for a few years, some mice also moved into the engine bay!
Removing all sorts of junk that has accumulated around it reveals the car
Into the garage and its had a good going through, New timing belt, brakes, fuel lines, headlight, refurbished wheels and new tyres
Running yesterday and taken for a short run - MOT is booked for Thursday.
So lets see those, rare "I will restore it one day" projects,
