Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread, or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Wooooah this took a while to do today, apologies, been frantic. So it is official Show Season has started, with Volksworld now in the books. Which also means I went to my first show of the year, made a last minute decision to write it up for Speedhunters (got an interesting angle on the whole thing), so I'll share that when it is out there. Was also great to meet up with rmad for the first time in a while and wander around a show and talk car stuff (think my favourite bit of the whole event was sitting, having a cup of tea and chatting about future purchases, which I could probably have saved money and done somewhere else) As usual a busy week this week, Club RR stickers arrived, so I need to prep the mail out for those, Weekender is ramping up and I need to get the short lists for the paddocks sorted, Gathering guest cars need some thought and Quick60 has kicked off (already half booked up with competitors which is amazing). Forum wise I'm hoping that this week I can move forward some more of the new design, I'll also be experimenting with a new advert provider, hoping to bridge the gap back to where the old ads were income wise (visitors are broadly the same, some times higher, some times lower, but ad income is 40% lower year on year :/ ). What you up to this week? Seen anything cool online? Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/224364/chat-thread-monday-13th-lucky

Had a bike ride out to the motor factor's earlier to pick up some bits for the T5 and saw an Ostermeier SL. I reckon that's worth a mention.
Was more excited about seeing a Renault 4 later on, though.

Took a trip out at the weekend & not only did I see the Ghostbusters car, but also the A-Team van as well, and we weren't even at a car show! 🙂

I can't see what the grille is but just it existing is enough, love weird 70s stuff like that. I've built another Duratec engine this week, this time a stock Fiesta ST150 engine that's going to the Isle of Man.

Had a bike ride out (...) and saw an Ostermeier SL. I reckon that's worth a mention. Had to look that up and was surprised as I thought Mercedes Benz had all the copies crushed? How did You tell it was a copy and not the real thing? The missing stars? While googling I found this sales add, unfortunately only in german: Ostermeier SL for sale - only 360k €s!And I was a little bit shocked when I saw those cheap looking rear speakers! edit: found them in the bay, nothing hi-end-ish like You would expect connected to one of those modern becker units!

Looks like the front end of a Lamborghini Espada? Not the cheapest parts donor, even back then. But probably cheaper than a new jag bonnet for a crash repair?

Almost legitimately, I guess, as it's all W124 underneath. www.autoleitner.nl/en/index/home

Yeah, this one: I went to this museum in 2019: museum-autovision.com/ - fantastic place, well worth a visit - and they had loads of old magazines for sale. I spent ages sorting out all the ones I was tempted to buy but the pile was three foot high. Started going through them for a second pass to narrow them down, couldn't decide so just bought the lot! The face on the fella at the till when I walked through straining under a big stack of mags was priceless!

And they were glad somebody finally bought that pile! I read that mag for quite some time and the small adds were always quite interesting back then. I remember having seen an add in there like that jag, for a mixture of two generations of Mercs SL, painted in violet. A mix of W121 and W113 IIRC. Or a W126 coupe painted in dark grey with a leopard pattern.

If you can get up to Aberdeenshire next week you can fill your boot with VolksWorlds from 1991-2015ish, CCCs from the '70s until the end, loads of CCs and Street Machine, probably loads of Porsche mags as well. They need to go and I'd rather they weren't skipped.

I live in a massive fire hazard! Hope someone takes them off your hands though, I know what it's like!

Noriyaro posted some photos on his Instagram story today of a concept Toyota straight 6 two stroke engine which has had me intrigued for much of the day. Info is a bit hard to come by but this is the Toyota S-2 and S-2 diesel The petrol engine was based on the conventional 4 stroke 7M GE engine, the diesel was a 4 cylinder, this page has a bit more info if you chuck it through google translate. It looks as though both engines utilised a supercharger for scavenging effect car.motor-fan.jp/tech/10016434There seem to have been at least a couple of cars with the engines fitted also, S-2 XV using the Z20 Soarer platform, according to the article, the one pictured running is fitted with the diesel In searching for the above info, I came across a Toyota press release from 1989 where the S-2 engine and XV concept car is one of the various things they were displaying at the Tokyo Motor Show global.toyota/en/detail/7839820Which had some other interesting stuff on it, including this I think pretty cool looking early concept for the RAV-4 which I had never seen before

They need to go and I'd rather they weren't skipped. I'd love the Triple C's if they are up for grabs, particularly the 90's era ones. Collection from Aberdeenshire isn't realistic. Don't know if an alternative could be worked out?

Just to continue something from last weeks thread.... The Oxford's old front wings had a stay of execution and were collected this morning in a Police Interceptor.
