I couldn't find any examples, but has anyone ever built a Proton Jumbuck as a minitruck? Quite an affordable base vehicle, just needs some lairy paint and graphics, lows, could always go down the Evo front end swap route if you want that look These wheels are the wrong pcd but could maybe be adapted or redrilled, strip the paint, polish or chrome them up for some nice 15" 3 spokes Could be some potential win?

Good call, they come up cheap. Though I always feel they may rot in ways that are not easy to recover. 1.5 motor, fwd etc. I like the look standard. I do suspect that if we go look in Malaysia we will find more of them modded. Maybe a different name there.

Proton Arena 2003 Proton Jumbuck (C90) GLSi utility (23352098994).jpg Overview Manufacturer Proton Also called Proton Jumbuck Production 2002–2009[1] Assembly Malaysia: Shah Alam, Selangor Body and chassis Class Ute Body style 2-door coupé utility Layout Front-engine, front-wheel drive Related Proton Wira Powertrain Engine 1.5 L 4G15 I4 Transmission 5-speed manual Dimensions Wheelbase 2,600 mm (102.4 in) Length 4,455 mm (175.4 in) Width 1,690 mm (66.5 in) Height 1,420 mm (55.9 in) Kerb weight 1,045 kg (2,304 lb) The Proton Arena (or the Proton Jumbuck in the United Kingdom, Taiwan and Australia) is a small front wheel drive coupé utility manufactured by Malaysian automaker Proton. Introduced in 2002, the Arena is the only form of pickup by Proton, and is the only Proton model to enjoy significantly more popularity in its export market than domestically.
The suspension configuration of the Arena consists of a combination of independent MacPherson strut suspensions from a saloon car at the front, and torsion beam, leaf sprung suspensions at the rear.[2] Other modifications include the use of a rigid rear axle, an uprated front stabiliser bar, and 14" front ventilated discs and 9" rear drum brakes with load sensing proportioning valves (LSPV), and the use of reinforced high-profile tyres. Lotus Engineering provided additional ride and handling enhancements.[2]
Similar to the car it is based on, the Arena is powered by a 1.5-litre, 12-valve Electronically Fuel Injected (EFI) Mitsubishi 4G15 engine fitted with Proton's proprietary EMS 400 engine management system.[2] The Arena was proclaimed to have met Europe's Euro 2 emission standards, and was also claimed to provide a good power-and-fuel efficiency balance by producing an output of 60.6 hp (45 kW) per litre and a power-to-weight ratio of 85.2 hp (64 kW) per tonne.[2] While fuel consumption is low for a utility (5.8-litre per 100 km on the highway and 8.5-litre per 100 km in the city), it was not intended for heavy duty usage, and instead fills a market segment below that occupied by larger coupé utilities.

I’ve been tempted and being petrol these are ulez compliant and an evo4/5 front end fits…

I certainly prefer the look with the Evo front end, the yellow one on chrome 5 spokes is getting towards what I was envisaging as a 90s minitruckin type look, just needs a little more neon coloured side graphics for me 😁
Certainly an idea I'll keep in mind for the future I think 😏

Considering what JDM parts prices can be like these days, not as bad as I was expecting I suspect with a bit of shopping around it could be done for less

I think you need bonnet and headlights too. All a slightly different shape. Not sure on wings

The bumpers in the pics are mainly evo3 which I prefer without the huge driving lamps.

Yeah the Evo 4 look is definitely a lot more "rally" with the big lamps, looks like Evo 3 stuff is reasonably available also

Surely we should be discussing swapping running gear before bumpers!

this is relevant to my interests. remember when GM had majority share in isuzu, who made splendid platform share utility vehicles /SUV on par with mitsu, nissan and toyota, then the mere application of a vauxhall badge made them terrible (according to british buying public)
