I have an R-Tech 180 mig with the R-Tech supplied regulator, I currently set the gas flow to about 9 litres per minute, what setting do other people use?

you want 15 ltrs per min really, but if what you are doing works, then just do that.

Ideally you want 12-14 litres per minute

When I was training we were always told 12-14lpm, as time goes on you get to know by the sound if its too high or low.

I wonder how accurate the gas flow display is on the R-Tech regulator. you don't do it that way, you use a FLOW meter you put that on the shroud, point it up, and pull the trigger. When i did my welding course, they said 15ltr per min, but its only a guide, and 12ltr maybe just as good, just do what works for you. |

It depends what kind of joint you're welding. An open corner will need more than an internal corner.
In reality if its important use more. If it's less important don't waste so much.

Just stick it on 13 and leave it , a little bit won't make any difference to mig welding cars.

On his youtube channel video about setting up a Mig, Fitzee recommends 13 cubic feet per hour, other north American posts talk of 13 to 15 cubic feet per hour, 13 cubic feet per hour is just over 6 litres per minute, I have tried this setting & it works fine if there is no wind.
